Canon EOS 250D Taken on 19/06/2022. * Deiva Marina is a small seaside resort of the Eastern Italian Riviera and a very good starting point for excursions to the famous Cinque Terre and Portofino. The town is divided into two parts: the old town with its narrow streets and old typical houses and the tourist area called la Marina, with its seafront, shops, restaurants and the beach. It's worth having a wander through the old town to see the pastel-coloured houses and the iconic tower dating back centuries. Made up of a tiny maze of narrow alleys called 'caruggi', all lined with pastel-coloured houses, Deiva Marina makes for a fascinating holiday destination! Rather than vying to outdo hot tourist destinations like the Cinque Terre villages or bustling coastal towns like Sestri Levante or Portofino, Deiva Marina is an easy-going resort that, while lacking in entertainment facilities, makes up for this in peace and quiet. The biggest draw of Deiva Marina has to be its wide sandy beach, which is a real luxury in this part of the Levante Riviera which is mostly characterised by pebbly beaches and rocky bays. The sheer enjoyment of going for a stroll along the seafront promenade in a quiet setting and taking in this view of the sandy shoreline with a beautiful backdrop of the cliffs descending into the sea is enough to spend the day there. The old town of Deiva Marina is located further inland; it's small in size but has a charming atmosphere, almost encouraging you to get lost in its narrow alleyways.
