What a good coming of age French Film. Lie with Me
I AM NOT AFRAID (2024)
Written and Directed By: Vladimir Beck
Synopsis: This short film on DEKKOO tells the coming of age story of Misha a quiet high school teen who covers up his sensitivity with an air of aloofness. While he's been exploring his sexuality during sleepovers with his best friend Phillip his much more confident friend.
ILLARION MOROV (as Misha)
&
MARK EIDELSHTEIN (as Phillip)
Review: I'm not going to lie, initially I didn't understand this short film but it's really a great kiss. But was it a kiss or fantasy. Did Misha punch Phillip, while fantasizing about kissing him? Or did he kiss him then punch him? Marov came off as aloof yet troubled. In Love with his pretty boy best friend and having sex with him while being in turmoil about Phillip's imminent departure with his family. Worth it for the acting and that kiss. Fantasy or not.
Just watched a wonderful movie, with two beautiful leads, a wonderful story, excellent acting!
This film kinda reminds me of Running With Scissors, from what I can remember of that movie. I watched it on Dekkoo, through Amazon Prime. If you can—watch it!
Stars Louis Hofmann as Phil and Jannik Schümann as Nicholas. With Sabine Timoteo as Glass and Svenja Jung as Kat.
