Those banned tags...

@dduane​ just forwarded me the current list compiled by @bannedtags​.

The ones that potentially affect me include, among numerous other idiocies...

butt (arms & armour posts.)

edge (arms & armour posts.)

feeder & feeding (garden birds, pets etc.)

gun & gunshot (gun safety, firearms safety, trigger discipline - as for that last one, see further down...)

knife & knives (arms & armour posts.)

long post (Not that I’ve ever...)

queue & queued (say WHAT?)

reblog & repost (this is just loopy...)

satin (not forgetting all his amps and demins. Bleu demins, of course. Also costume-related posts.)

shooting (see gun & gunshot, also anything involving archery and cameras.)

shower (but not, for some reason, bath.)

tagged (well, of course.)

trigger & trigger warning (these aren’t bolded in the list which according to @bannedtags means only the tags vanish. Bolded words - the rest of this list - mean the entire post is blocked...)

underwear (costume-related posts.)

wax (posts to do with sealing letters, candles, bees and oh, all right, ears.)

weapons (Thinking of my own blog I can’t think of anything funny to say.)

If it only means the tag “weapons” it’s not too bad, since I usually add more detail - “Indo-Persian weapons” / “combination weapons” / “reproduction weapons” etc.

But if the ban includes expansions as well, then it looks like I have a bit of work ahead, changing tags from banned to doublespeak (for example kitchen knife / knives = kitchen cutlery or Viking weapons = Viking weaponry / Viking arms & armour)

Finding posts on Tumblr using tags is a hit-and-miss affair anyway; a word in the Search Box is as likely to come up in the body of the post as it is as a tag, and if that won’t work, there’s always Google.

There’s also the business of copying posts with a lot of work involved (banned tag ”long post”) and saving them elsewhere, against the day when Tumblr finally goes tits-up.

FYI, tiddy and titty are on the list, tits are not. Just as well; an entire genus of small birds says thank-you.

Work out the reasoning behind that one if you can... :-P
