Cutting a life of excess.

I have lived a life of excess for some time now. 

I wonder if my latest episode of accidentally deleting my blog of a decade was Fate’s way of making its point about my life. Perhaps a sub-conscious within me making the same point. 

This somehow coincides with my process of packing up all the stuff I have accumulated all these years as I move into our new home. A process that shocks me for the amount of crap I’ve accumulated; my wife is valid in her concern about our future together. She has kindly adopted all my junk thus far.

But perhaps learning to let go of the past and live the present is a personal lesson for 2017. I have been called romantic and nostalgic many times. But perhaps that is a fine line away from being indulgent and a hoarder of the past. 

Well, Tumblr has made it very clear it cannot restore my lost memories of a decade. So that’s that. Worst, it’s not just my memories that have vanished with 2-clicks; it’s the shared memories that Valerie and I had on our shared blog that has also disappeared into the ether. 

There is nothing more I can do now. So, “only forward, never backwards”.
