I REMEMBER THE DRILL.

           ‘sometimes i feel like... lonely,’ she tells him, and then regrets it instantly. it’s too forward, too involved, not what he was asking -- even so, she doesn’t feel that she needs to claw anything back just yet. ‘like, i have the band, and everything, but sometimes i think that... that other people who are, y’know, doing uni and everything, they’re getting more out of these years in terms of... not enjoyment, but, like, connection. i love working, but... you get me?’ her dark eyes turn on him then, a little curious, but mostly pleading: seeming to ask don’t think i’m stupid.
