The only thing he hated more than Heartless was..... well, a swarm of Heartless. Every time he came across one-- which was very often-- it was like the universe was laughing at him, or just punishing him for how he wasn't supposed to exist.
Either way, it bothered him to no end to walk around a corner and have to deal with more of the goddamn things. Which is exactly what happened. In the middle of the expected ambush, Axel saw someone coming from behind him. They were still a good distance from the Heartless' line of sight, but if they kept on they'd get killed.
Normally he wouldn't care, but he realized that the person was one of his surveillance targets, and letting them die meant a penalty, as well as some guilt-- but he really didn't understand the feeling of guilt, so the penalty was all that was on his mind.
"Hey, you! Stay back 'til I get through with these bastards!" It was a command, but some people normally decided to ignore that and charge in anyways.
Either way, he'd be done with the creatures in a few minutes.
