An often overlooked, dim constellation of Equuleus, "the little horse" // Wolfgang Rafelt

Read below for some information about the four stars that make up Equuleus!

Kitalpha (α Equulei) seen as the top right point is a binary system consisting of a yellow-white giant star and a blue dwarf star. Its name comes from the Arabic phrase qiṭ‘a(t) al-faras meaning "a piece of the horse."

Opposite Kitalpha at the lower left corner is δ Equulei, a binary star system with two white giant stars as members.

In the upper left corner is γ Equulei, a white giant star that is chemically peculiar, showing more heavy elements than is normal for stars of its type.

Finally, in the lower right corner is β Equulei, a solitary blue-white giant star.
