I'm far too excited about Khozan.
Why? Because today he proved he's got speed to go with his gorgeous pedigree. That pedigree? Well...
Khozan's sire is the incredibly classy Distorted Humor, a speedy sprinter/miler himself, he's a proven sire of classic horses. Distorted Humor has sired winners of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness, Belmont, Breeders' Cup Classic, Jockey Club Gold Cup, Travers, Humana Distaff, Whitney, etc... He's also the sire of Flower Alley, who sired Kentucky Derby & Preakness winner I'll Have Another.
Khozan's dam is the brilliant blue hen, Delta Princess. She won 11 of 30 races and earned over $700,000. Her biggest wins came in the G3 Beaugay H, G3 Early Times Mint Julep H, and G3 Locust Grove H. As a broodmare she's been amazing. Each of her 6 foals of racing age have run and won. Her best is, of course, 3-time Eclipse champion Royal Delta, followed by G1 winner (and Eclipse finalist) Crown Queen. Delta Princess is also the dam of G1-placed Carnival Court, and G2-placed Empire Way.
Delta Princess's dam and grand dam were both graded/group stakes winners, and the whole damline is loaded with black type.
Take Charge Brandi proves to the haters that her Breeders' Cup win was no fluke! What a nice win in the Delta Princess. I love this filly and can't help but marvel at the strength of her family. Granddam Take Charge Lady now has 2 G1 winning sons and a G1 producing Daughter.

A Royal Family From first to last picture: Lyphards Delta, Delta Princess, Royal Delta and Crown Queen. In 1999, Group 2 winning mare Lyphards Delta gave birth to an A.P. Indy filly. The filly would be named Delta Princess. During her racing career, Delta Princess won 11 of 30 races including several Grade 3 stakes, but it was as a broodmare where she left her mark. Delta Princess is the dam of champion mare Royal Delta (by Empire Maker) and now another Grade 1 winning filly named Crown Queen (by Smart Strike). She is also the dam of stakes placed runners Carnival Court and Empire Way. Bill Mott trained all four of these mares.

Delta Princess, dam of Royal Delta, has been put to sleep due to a degenerative stifle condition.
“It is with great sadness that we had to humanely euthanize Delta Princess early this morning. Her chronic stifle issue caused her significant discomfort overnight and it was clear that it was our only course of action. She was a remarkable producer throughout her career and we are all deeply saddened that it was cut so short.” Said Eric Hamelback, Adena Springs' General Manager.
