Just tentative designs there are dark fountains in wondertale it’s a sorta deltarune/undertale au.

Dark fountains here still require dt (red mage levels of dt) to open and intent. The fountains spell matrix then acquires data of all (that will be, never was, is )and projects it according to the intent/wish of the caster.

That’s how you can have residents in the dark fountains that are skilled / tech level/ magic level beyond the lightner's worlds.

So it’s a sorta data mining dungeon (imagine getting tech from a future, another timeline or reality) and the Darkners could end up being formed from data of someone that may have already existed (a version of them, or several ideas etc.). Objects places anomalies can appear as sapient or symbolically based on data on it.

Id imagine Kris and co are sorta the dark fountain inspectors that would end up evaluating how safe and useful a dark fountain is and help clear it if not. I mean if it’s that easy for someone to just open one illegally then there’s gotta be experts in place to manage it. Bonus the red souls can summon their party / armor etc. from their own dark fountain in another dark fountain so ya can buster call and summon allies. Ralsie will definitely play a role in this au.
