All Systems Red: Deltfall
Imagine you're one of the three people enslaved by DeltFall to be their meatshields, and you get your brain killing chip hijacked to make you follow someone else's orders now, but you and your only surviving comrade still do everything in your power to protect the other slave you know is on this planet. You are ordered to set a trap. So you set a trap. You have to. So you do.
But you set it badly. The entire rest of the building is covered in tracked in and smudged dirt. So you clean the entire hallway leading to your trap until it's sparkling.
You take a dead body of one of your former slave owners and place them in a blatantly unnatural position at the end of the one single sparkling clean hallway in the whole entire place.
And you wait, because you were ordered to wait, so you have to.
The only other slave on this planet whose not currently hijacked by your current slave owners walks in, and stops. It's very clear they've spotted your trap, exactly the way you intended them to.
They stop, they receive new orders from their slave owners. They turn to leave.
You know you've succeeded in warning them, they got the message. They know you're here. They know what's waiting for them.
But now they're warned, now they have a chance to get away. It might not save them in the long run, but it can save them right now. You don't know who they are. But you know they're another slave, just like you, who doesn't deserve any of this —
— and then you are shot in the back, because the slave you're trying to rescue wasn't actually allowed to leave, they were just ordered to go behind your back to try and kill you.
And then they succeed in knocking you and your surviving comrade unconcious, even though you were forced to shoot them — four times in the hip and three times in the shoulder with explosive bullets, and hit too many times to count everywhere with lazer fire.
And as you fall unconscious, from the injuries you received from getting shot in the back, you don't blame the other slave, because you know they had no choice. You know you're all in the same boat, with no choice but to hurt eachother at the orders of your owners.
(What you don't know, is that it wanted to kill you.)
Murderbot (TV) - Deltfall Sec Unit Fight Concept Art by Tommy Arnold
If anyone was wondering what SecUnit was picking up from DeltFall while they were approaching with the hopper, it's this:

Y'all, I just noticed that Leebeebee gives herself two slightly different backstories in her two episodes XD For all I think of her as a terrible spy, I am clearly worse.
Episode 5, Rogue Tracker War Infinite: "I'm on a seven-year indenture to InterTrav Mining Solutions, so I can't help it if I don't have a degree."
Episode 6, Command Feed: "DeltFall bought my indenture from my previous employer, SysCommSols. And, well, I had about four years left, but this expedition has hazard scheduling, so it was knocking off time at one-and-a-half the rate. So I could be out in like, two and a half years."
I have rewatched these episodes like 4 times already, how did I miss this XD
I know Murderbot TV Ep. 3 came out literally 2 days ago but I NEED TO DISCUSS THE SUMMERY OF EPISODE 4!!
The first sentence makes sense. As an enemy takes aim at Murderbot [-> evil secunit shooting MB], an ally tries to orchestrate a getaway [-> Gurathin, probably, wants to launch the emergency beacon to get tf off this planet].
But the second sentence?? The team grapples with a leadership shakeup and a shocking ultimatum?? I have so many questions! WHO IS CHALLENGING MENSAS LEADERSHIP? WHAT IS THE SHOCKING ULTIMATUM? DOES IT HAVE TO DO WITH THE BLONDE UNKNOWN CHARACTER (by Anna Konkle) FROM (allegedly) DELTFALL?
I have some theories but none of them make really sense. I am assuming this episode will cover Murderbot getting the combat override module and the team bringing it and Blonde Lady back to the PresAux hub. So the ultimatum could be by Gurathin and be something like "We keep SecUnit offline or I'll kill it / or I'll launch the beacon." Or it could be about Blonde Lady 'joining' the team temporarily.
But what the fuck is the shake up in leadership? I have talked about this with my murderbot bestie but we couldn't really come up with anything beyond "is it a weird way to say secunit is taking over after being exposed as rogue?". Because we can't see any of the preservation guys challenging Mensa that way, even Gurathin not really. Or is this Blonde Lady wanting to take over because she comes from the Cooperation Rim and having more experience in that sense? (But surely the PresAux team wouldn't allow that, right?)
I have so many questions. I am confused. And I need to know NOW !!! Next friday can't come soon enough 😭
