Heartlines : a beautiful echo fic thatshows a sweet and emotionally intimate moment between the couple, really putting Max’s romantic -and kinky- side on the table, and being written really poetically as always

Blanco Navidad : a Christmas time fic that is sooooo sugar sweet it gives me a toothache and also is super sexy but in an understated way- weaving together imagery through memories and experiences and emotion instead of physicality

Thicker Than Pod Vapor : a look at the stress and destress Max would feel welcoming his kids into an unwelcome world- lines of this still haunt me, like knowing he will never fully be at peace and believe himself safe nevertheless his children

@rewritingroswell’s fics are also amazing <3

The Consequences of Being a Tease : Delvecho- what’s not to love. Also, super sexy as always. And like… my brain short circuits everytime Max calls Maria ma’am. Also, just the decision to make a fun little competition to make Liz orgasm? Instead of an angsty who’s better in bed? Glorious.

I’m Burnin’ Up On You : t4t echo! They’re soooooooo. And then they’re- ugghhh- this fic captrued them so well, their earnest communication, their burning desire. It’s all there and more. Go read it. Please.

Cheating a second time with @ladynox and @beautifulcheat with two joint works and then one individual (cause I can’t not- they’re too good to pick just a few)

The Truth is Right Here : xfiles. Meets rnm. Malexa and Kaliz and mystery. And just- it’s so god. Truly one of the most intricate and well handled stories (emphasis on story not fic!) I’ve ever had the pleasure to read. From Michael and Max pretending to be ghosts, to Liz fiercely gathering mushroom samples, to Kyle bumping shoulders with Max, to Michael buying Maria a tacky bracelet, to Alex accidentally implying a threesome vacation, to Maria wearing Michael’s hat, to all the fucked up alien stuff (and lemurs) and Jesse Manes it’s a wild ride more than worth taking. Go read it. Like truly- even if you haven’t seen the show, you’ll fall in love with these characters.

Dealing With Dragons : Maria is a witch. Michael a dragon. Fate brings them together in a magic forest? What more could one ask for? The answer is a beautifully written fantasy setting that will have you purchasing the inspiration book to sit on your nightstand.

Nox’s Rough Stock : ummmmmm sexy. like so sexy. brain dead type sexy. Maria pegs Michael- need no say more? Well I will- it’s slow and sensual and just so well done. Sorry- your work is so amazing and I’m like ah the smut.

Beautifulcheat’s Surreal Estate : *hides cause I’m behind* Just the best. Like these three girls are perfect in this setting. Not only that but the romance and the ghosts as metaphors is so well done. I’m on the edge of my seat every chapter head spinning to figure out all these mysteries. Also there’s a cute little demon dog. Precious.

Liz and Maria dragging Max to dance and sing (1.01 // 1.09)

Max's house is the perfect place for Rosa to reside while they figure everything out. He's absent, so Liz would want to stay while they figure out how to get him back.

I love that Maria's car is prominent at the location. It means she'll be there too.

I just love the idea of Liz and Rosa moving in temporarily while he's away. Maria gravitates there as well after a while. She likes being close to her best friend and also, it's lonely at home now that Mimi is at a facility.

So the girls all move into Max's house temporarily without consciously meaning to ... it just happens, and when he comes back they kinda never leave.

At first he feels like a stranger in his own home because they made themselves at home over time. There are touches of these women everywhere. And then he caters to them a bit like a good host would, but eventually it feels like it's always been this way.

He loves to drive home after a long shift. Usually Maria is leaving back out for a shift at the Wild Pony. She kisses him on the cheek when he comes in. They weren't particularly close before, but they're connected now.

He died to revive Rosa, and she's just tired of losing people, but he revived her best friend, and makes her other friend happy, and he's her people now.

She's the one who did most of the decorating. Just because. Area rugs. Throw pillows. Knick knacks. Candles. Splashes of color everywhere, and he likes how warm and homey it feels now.

Rosa casually walks out of her the guest room to raid the refrigerator. She gives him the head nod. They eventually found a rhythm over time. It's not as awkward and stilted.

She always has jokes and a bit of attitude, but he likes it. She's snarky with a dry humor. She makes digs about him being the law harassing citizens all day. Takes a jab at him being any form of authority moral or otherwise. They're less heated though. She's all angsty teen who flips him off but respects that he treats her sister right.

Liz curls up on the couch and reads. He sits down next to her and puts her feet in his lap. She didn't cook that night, but she'll draw him a bath later. It has become her thing. He's not sure what kind of healing properties she imagines a hot bath has, but she insists on them since he has been back.

He indulges her. They all have. Maria leaves him bath oil blends she makes herself along with a salve for his bum shoulder. He's the healer, but there's something about Maria's presence that is soothing. He can't explain it.

Max cooks a lot. Some days they rotate, but he does it most. He likes to cook for them, but it often makes him nervous too. Rosa is the one who challenges him most. He denies the remarks about unseasoned food -- takes them in stride, the "whatever you say, Blanco" he waves off too.

She'll never say it's good, but she eats and doesn't rummage through his cabinets for additions. It says it all.

Not that he minds because what he could lack in seasoning, he can make up for with his impressive assortment of hot sauces. He's proud of them.

Max cooks dinner later. He drinks out of the mug Rosa lowkey made for him. An alien pig. She drew all over it, and neither of them openly acknowledges it's his favorite mug.

She kinda made a mural on his wall too. She dismisses it as boredom and an attempt to get under his skin, but it's stunning blacks, reds, blues, and violets. She doesn't think he notices, but she keeps adding on to it. It creeps across the wall, vibrant and mesmerizing. Some days he just sits and stares at it and smiles into his mug.

For dinner he uses the herbs Maria has grown in the garden she started in his backyard. No, not those herbs. Although, they fell into a pattern of him looking the other way when she takes a moment to relax.

It's a complicated contraption she has arranged that is suitable for the desert life. Sometimes he tries to help tend to them, but plants are not susceptible to his healing hands.

Rosa has noise cancellation headphones for the evenings. They all found out the hard way how thin the walls are and how loud Liz is. She goes on long walks in the desert. Some nights Maria accompanies her.

Once, they made a makeshift tent in the desert and roasted marshmallows in a bonfire. The girls talked about adventures they got into growing up. They laughed, even Rosa, and let the desert air and stargazing lull them to sleep.

Max is an early riser. Sometimes his shift starts early. He let's Liz sleep in, but every now and then they squeeze in a quickie before she rolls over sated and dozes until her alarm goes off.

Mornings are usually quieter. They're the most like how life used to be when it was just him and his thoughts.

Rosa sleeps late, some nights she has nightmares, and they long since learned to leave her be in the aftermath.

If he times it right, Max makes breakfast before he leaves and it's still warm when the girls get to it.

Sometimes he and Maria cross paths in the morning. She's a bit of a nomad who breezes in and out at will. Often she stumbles in late after closing up. She's all soft snores, tangled curls and limbs sprawled on the couch.

He drapes a throw over her so often it carries her scent.

Other times she's coming in on his way out. He finishes up making her a smoothie and puts in her mason jar.

She hands him a cup of coffee just the way he likes it that she picked up from their favorite shop.

They don't always say much. They never really need to. She flashes him her brilliant smile and gives him random words of encouragement that always make him feel good.

Occasionally, he trips over someone's shoes (usually Rosa's) on his way out and swears a little, but it never sours his mood.

He smiles a little at Maria's car parked next to his, still hot from the leisurely drive.

And as he pulls away, his arm resting out the window as he cruises into town those dark and lonely days of the past have all but faded away like a distant memory.
