i get it now that you've elaborated. and yeah, in those 3 years i have received NO psychological help, just medication for depression and anxiety, so i agree it's upsettingly useless. i live in serbia, and i can't back up my statement about detransition rates being so low - my therapists wouldn't share any more than that, so it might be untruthful.
yeah see thats exactly what i’m talking about, what I want is more addressing & understanding root causes which just doesnt seem to happen with dysphoria - bc more often than not, the cause is written off as “being trans”, like that explains anything. so even when you are getting people going through the system and doing the therapy, they haven’t actually been addressing what’s causing their dysphoric symptoms, nor usually learning any other helpful ways to cope either without transition or even in the meantime while waiting for transition. i think that’s also a big part of why so many people are in such a rush to transition, and then that leads to its own issues when other places do let people fast-track their transition.
here, you’re usually still offered some measure of therapy before going to a GIC, but it’s no longer a legal requirement so most people (at least my age) don’t even bother bc everyone knows they don’t actually help - just ask invasive questions abt your sex life and how gnc you were as a kid. so ppl demand a direct referral to the gic, and two years from their first appointment there they’re getting surgery.
tbh all i really want is more viable options for trans people. it really just feels like there aren’t even options rn.
