Welcome to Neverland || demented-king + monstersarentborn
The island was too quiet sometimes, even with the children around. Of her own kind, it was only she now. Feeding had become an easy, solitary game. Her unguarded imagination conjured up much devilry. Not that she hurt the children--she couldn't hurt them. Instead she dug deep into their heads and hearts. She unearthed things that were darker, bleaker, which lent the fear a headier taste.
Then they'd be gone, back in their own beds in worlds she would probably never know.
Neverland never saw a winter (unless someone dreamed one up). But in the ensuing quiet, as she tried to fathom the distance between her and everyone else, Tiger Lily would curl into herself and feel inexplicably cold.
"There's a child here," a phantom voice said.
She peered up. A shadow resembling a man in a long flowing cloak loomed beside her. Tiger stretched, grunted, stood to meet his glowing eyes.
"Is there? Well, thank you for keeping me up to speed. It's not as though I wouldn't have found them."
"Don't be fresh. I was worried you wouldn't notice him in the midst of your moping."
The girl bared her teeth. "I was not moping."
The Shadow's sigh became a chilly breeze as he dissolved into nothing. Tiger echoed him, then stalked off in search of her newest playmate.
