It does!!!! cause he’s so sensitive and compassionate and a generally empathetic person. Like I can see him wanting to emotionally bond with that person before wanting to be in a relationship with them. Demisexual sam really gets me too because I may also be demisexual but I don’t know and it’s just so soft and nice and so sam yk???

I come across a lot of posts about bi dean and het sam so, as someone who's ace, it's nice to see aro/ace headcanons. Personally, I see Sam as demisexual and demi(possibly pan)romantic. Either way, I definitely think he has a difficult time with the whole sex and romance thing. As for Dean, I'd never really thought about him being aro, but it kind of makes sense, especially with what we've seen on the show. Anyhow... thanks for this. It means a lot.

I do have to admit, my aro headcanons are a bit self-serving. I’m aro so I like to show some of my favorites as aro in fics and headcanons. (Partly because people tend to understand concepts better in fiction so if they see Dean or Sam or Cas as aro or ace or on the a-spectrum(s), they’ll understand it better.) So yeah, ace and aro headcanons and representations of characters are important to me. :) 

I tend to see Sam as pansexual demiromantic, but demisexual demiromantic or demisexual panromantic totally works for me, too. I would definitely agree he has issues with sex and romance, though. And I think that can be born out in canon as well because he’s kind of apathetic about sex and romance. Like, as much as people seem to see Sam as straight, I kind of don’t. I don’t see him really caring about the gender of his partners. It kinda feels like a default assumption to me, to be honest. He just isn’t that comfortable with romantic advances and he’s not nearly as anxious to sleep with people as Dean is. So, yeah. Sam, in my mind, is definitely on the a-spectrum. 

I’m glad you like to see these headcanons, though. And I’m always up for talking about them at any time. :)

The youngest Winchester realized he was demisexual before he had known the actual word for it. Sam never really felt that he fit in with other college boys. He never understood the pride on their faces when they spoke about their sexual conquests or their insatiable need to have sex with nearly all the girls in their classes. Hell--he couldn’t begin to fathom how someone could have sex with someone they had barely met or someone they had no emotional attachment to.

Sam had never felt that way. He had girlfriends in highschool and even went out with a boy in his Drama class, but every time it hadcome to the point in their relationship in which sex seemed like the rightmove, he couldn’t bring himself to do it. And he began to think that there wassomething wrong with him, that is, until Sam had began to understand. But hedid not begin to understand what the others felt until he met Brady–hisbisexual roommate.(2/3)

Although his roommate said he liked both men and women, heseemed more partial to women, given his rather inappropriate–and ratherdescriptive–stories of his conquest, Sam had started to feel something forBrady. Oh oh and when Sam finally went all the way with Brady, it felt right. It was like Sam could trust him with anything. And when he told Brady he was demi, Brady was really understanding and happy that Sam feels like he could have a more physical relation with him.

Demisexual!Sam thinking he's straight with a low sex drive until he meets Castiel, bona fide Angel-of-the-Lord in a male vessel. Sam can't explain the bloom of heat in the pit of his stomach or the blush that warms his face every time he interacts with the angel, even after they become friends and brothers in arms over the years. He finally gets it after Cas cradles his face in his hands and gently kisses him on the lips. Sam feels slightly foolish for not recognizing his attraction sooner, but forgets it when the angel pulls him closer and deepens the kiss.

“Dean, So get this.”

Dean ran his hands down his face. Not again.

It had barely been two weeks after that godforsaken musical and Sam had taken it upon himself to inform Dean about every part of the “Supernatural Fandom” which apparently consisted of’ fanfiction’, ‘fanart’ and other ‘fanworks’  that came along with it.

Dean turned to Sam, hoping that this time it wouldn’t involve anything that included the word “smut”.

“I think I’m Demisexual.”

Well, at least it was something different.

“You’re what?”

Sam began to tap away at his laptop. When he was satisfied he turned the screen towards Dean. On it was a well-made picture of Sams face in the colors purple, black, white, and gray. If Dean didn’t know any better he would say it was similar to those Obama posters he’d seen.

“I’ve been reading up on sexualities and stuff cause apparently there’s this who section of the fandom dedicated to ‘queer Supernatural characters’ and I was one of them.” He started to explain. “And a lot of people kept saying I was ‘Demisexual’. They even had essays written about this! So I decided to take a look at it.”

Dean nodded, only vaguely understanding.

“And so I checked up the definition. Demisexual is “characterized by a lack of sexual attraction toward any person unless they become deeply emotionally or romantically connected with a specific person or persons. “ and it might sound kind of silly but that sounds exactly like me!”

Dean frowned. “But, you’ve had sex with people before.”

“Yeah, Jess, Amelia, and there were people when I was soulless but that’s it.” Sam began to deflate, “I mean it sounds weird…but it makes so much sense…’cause I always wondered why I couldn’t be like you and just sleep with anyone I wanted to and  I-I thought something was wrong but…Dean! They have a word for it! So it means there isn’t something wrong with me! It’s just that it’s a little different…”

Sam shrunk into himself, already readying himself for Dean’s rejection when Dean sat in the seat next to Sam. Dean pulled the laptop closer to himself.

“So what does it actually say about this…Like, do I have to start feedin’ you pellets or can you stick to leaves? Does it say anything about watering you and for how many times a day?” He started to type into the computer. “I mean, it’s not like you’re any different from before. You’re still my little bro.”

Sam brightened instantly.

“Oh, and Dean! You should see the essays about you. Some people put up some pretty convincing arguments that---“

“Not now Sammy, you gotta teach me about this Domo-sexual thing.”

“It’s Demisexual.”
