Ashamed no more

I just had the impulse to write this short ficlet because of various reasons. 1. I just love the thought of Sam discovering he likes boys at a young age ; 2. I also really like the idea of him coming out to someone he trusts and feels safe with ; 3. We never knew what was Sam’s first and only confession

  “In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Spirit,” Sam whispered as he signed himself. 

 “I’m listening, my child.”

 “Forgive me Father, for I have sinned.” Sam’s throat tightened. He fidgeted. His knees were already hurting because of the hard floor. He began his confession in a thin voice. “I have had thoughts about some people I’m…not supposed to have uh- thoughts about.” Sam winced. Delivering the right concise words would have been much easier and he would be done by now, but he just couldn’t formulate them in his mind, let alone get them out of his mouth.

 The voice across the wire-mesh screen resonated louder than Sam would have wanted it too. “Impure thoughts?” 

 The flushed young boy nodded, oblivious to the fact that the confessor could not see him.

 “My child?”

 “Oh, right. Uh yes. Well, some of them.”

 Half of Sam hoped that it would be it and that the Pastor would send him off with an Our Father or two. But he would not be able to come out of this confessional serene if they didn’t discuss Sam’s…tendencies. Fortunately, it wasn’t in the Pastor’s plans.

 “What makes you think you’re not supposed to think about them?”

 “They were…” Sam breathed out shakily. “Other boys.”

Max gives him a slow smile that Sam will never admit makes his heartbeat go a little erratic. His eyes are incredibly blue. “Will do.”

Halfway back to Sioux Falls, Sam’s pocket buzzes with a text from unknown number.

Hey, it’s Max. Hit me up if you ever feel like expanding your knowledge of sigils. Like I said, my mom taught me a few things I’d be happy to show you…

Sam hides his smile in the sleeve of his jacket. If Dean and Jody see, he’ll never hear the end of it.

ok i love dean and cas as characters and i like destiel as a ship but no one pays attention to sam??? he's such a sweetheart and he just wants to save his brother and make the world a better place. after any episode, the only fanfics or posts or gifsets are all about interactions between dean and cas. i want them to be happy but i wish people respected sam more and wanted him to be happy. it's like people forget he's a character. i love sammy sm. do you agree, or am i biased to my fav character?

Dean’s walking Mom to the car when Sam hears footsteps crunching in the gravel road behind him.

 "Hey, Sam?“ Max walks up behind him, voice flirty and a little hopeful. “You all good?”

Sam laughs a little under his breath. “Uh, as okay as we can be. How are you?” 

Max seems pleased with his answer, if his welcoming smirk and increased inching into Sam’s personal space is anything to go by. “Same here. Alicia’s still a little shaken up from being possessed and all,” he gestures back at Alicia, who’s being hugged by Lorraine, “but we’ll survive. We always do.” 

“Glad to hear it,” Sam says, small smile on his lips, offering a little wave before turning around again.

“Wait!” Max blurts out, a blush high on his cheekbones. “Are you–um–do you want to…”

Sam turns back to him, brow furrowed. “Yes?”

Max lets out a sheepish laugh. “For all my seduction techniques, I’m still…” He pats his pockets before finding a pen. “You got a scrap of paper on you somewhere?”

Sam digs through his own pockets before offering a crumpled receipt. Max scribbles something on it quickly before handing it back to him. 

“My number,” he says quickly, “if you want to be a gentleman caller sometime.” When Sam doesn’t say anything for a moment, he sighs a little and turns away.

“Max?”

“Yeah?” Max says, turning around.

Sam’s blushing too, and he’s looking at his feet like they’re something interesting. “I’ll call you.”

Max’s face lights up in a smile. “Good.”

Important Announcement

It’s been a good run, my friends.

Though it’s been unofficially retired for some time, I’m officially retiring this blog. I will reblog ASMB posts when the time comes (since that’s an easy task that happens once a year), but I will not be tracking any more tags, posting any more recs, nor taking any more mods. The blog will stay as-is.

That being said, I am so damned proud of all of you (all 1,157!). This blog is nothing without all of the lovely people who participated (in any capacity: writing, drawing, and reblogging) in contributing to this blog. The presence of asexuality in the fandom has grown exponentially in the past few years, and words can’t describe how wonderful and meaningful it is. 

Representation matters, and it touches the lives of many. Countless followers have expressed how they have discovered their asexuality or found validation by things they have seen here. If you’ve created anything ace+spn, be proud that you’ve contributed to something so beautiful.

So never let anyone try to tell you a character “can’t be asexual.” Your interpretation is just as legitimate as anyone else’s, and deserves just as much respect. Don’t let anyone discourage you from creating ace headcanons, art, or fanfiction. You are diamonds in the rough.

So, as a very lovely red-haired hacker once said: “Peace out bitches” ✌️
