NEW YORK — A new internal poll shows a Democratic House candidate is in a dead heat with his Republican challenger in an upstate New York district President Donald Trump won by 20 points in 2024.

The poll, commissioned by Democratic candidate Blake Gendebien's campaign and conducted by the left-leaning group Impact Research, found Gendebien trailing Republican Anthony Constantino by just one percentage point, 45-44, with 11 percent of voters undecided.

The district is currently represented by outgoing Republican Rep. Elise Stefanik, who congratulated Constantino on winning the GOP nomination Tuesday after he defeated Republican state Assemblymember Robert Smullen in a nasty primary.

Honestly, Andrew Yang should be pulling the women card more often when talking about $1000 for everyone.

It works really well, and seems more palatable. I think a every adult paycheck is a radical and interesting idea. Too early to say whether I think it’d fix some of what I think needs to be fixed, and I don’t think it’s palatable to America right now. However, I find it more understandable in regards to women who are statistically much more likely to take care of children and do the majority of housework, on top of the stay-at-home moms.

I think a first step to his universal income idea would be an income to those who chose to stay-at-home with children until they reach preschool or kindergarten age, because day care is way too expensive for many.

The democratic party choosing Marianne Williams as a candidate is the exact opposite of what I have learned the morals of the democratic party to uphold. I thought democrats believed in making real world change through real world means, providing funding to those who need it and things of the like. Instead they choose someone is once again -suprise suprise- putting they spiritual beliefs into politics, and is conforming to the idea that you can only change your situation if you change yourself. Unfortunately no matter how much I change myself, to have a more positive outlook or to believe in a higher power wont change my income level. I still won’t be able to afford a house no matter who or what I believe in. 

This is the mentality that assisted in Trump getting elected, though he even used conflict theory to get votes from the workers union but of course did not follow through. My point is we have to stop blaming the individual and figure out what we are doing to facilitate people becoming homeless. Is insurance to costly? both medical and home-owners? Do these people not make enough money to have something to fall back on? These are things we can actively change to lift up the people in this country who feel they are at their lowest. They believe that no one will help because we are doing the bare minimum by providing food stamps, while there are programs to assist people, it may keep them afloat but unfortunately the quality of life for these people stay the same.

I personally want my tax money to go to infrastructure (I live in NYC, I’ve broken my collarbone on a pothole while biking), helping the homeless, helping people who cant afford to go to school, helping single mothers. I DON’T want my tax money going into our military, we spend the most out of all developed nation on defense, yet there are STILL MASS SHOOTINGS. Children are shot in what is supposed to be a safe space. 

I don’t want to survive and I don’t think other people should be just surviving either. We have completely manipulated our world to fit our growing needs and increase our life chances. IT IS UNACCEPTABLE to live in the top 20 richest countries in the world and have people dying from curable illness because they can’t afford to go to the doctor. IN NYC it is cheaper to go without healthcare and be fined for it, than it is to actually have healthcare.
