Darker Dimension launchpad and drake. demolition duck has made himself everyone's problem. crash launchpad is Not A Supervillain. i'd talk about what's up with them but i sleepy.
ok about Darker Dimension drake and LP. i keep saying i'll talk about them and then not doing it but i'm doing it now. (i also talk about darkwarrior duck.)
LONG POST GOD HELP ME !!!
what's important to know about the darker dimension is that it sucks for everybody. there's no scrooge mcduck in this world. and that has a lot of far-reaching implications that make my head spin to think about, so let's focus on st. canard.
so blah blah, in 1991B, tv pilot Darkwing Duck is rejected and young actor jim starling decides to become a real superhero after getting mugged while in costume. he gets beat up a lot before meeting, learning from and kinda befriending thaddeus waddlemeyer. he loses him first because thad was repulsed by how much he loved punishing criminals, and then again years later, trying to save both thad and his device, the Reality Altering Mechanism, from FOWL agent taurus bulba. he literally redirects a blast from taurus away from the RAMRod and directly at thad. oops. as thad dies, he tells jim to destroy the RAMRod anyway, because it'll tear the world apart. so yeah jim kinda goes full darkwarrior after that.
a drake mallard as darkwarrior duck ruled st. canard with an iron fist, but jim, who is crueler and barely ever had a morality chain in this world, turned the place into an utter nightmare.
so launchpad. just like Our launchpad, this one spent time on the streets of st. canard, but never managed to get out of the city. became a taxi driver. a lot of people have seen the inside of st. canard prison at least once, but launchpad has been there once for every vehicle crash he's been caught doing, including supervillain prison a couple times for good measure. darkwarrior knew him as "the crasher."
the villains and criminals of st. canard call him "crash." he gains a reputation as vehicle-themed supervillain despite insisting that he's not. the fearsome four, (who all managed to come about in this world despite Darkwing Duck never airing, inevitability and all that) want him to be on their team sooo bad. because he's LP, he tries to steer them the right way, but ends up putting up a tougher front just to survive being around criminals so often. launchpad trying really hard to seem like a negalaunchpad.
about a year before Our drake visited the darker dimension and just around the time Our thad got chucked in, launchpad accidentally crashes a bus into darkwarrior tower. damages a lot of crimebots. and to top it off, makes it look like the darkwarrior face on the front is missing teeth.
he paid for it. i won't get into it, because i don't like to think about bad things happening to any launchpad. but darkwarrior made sure it was bad. he made sure LP was terrified by the mere thought of driving a vehicle. and the dark. and spikes.
but despite it all, whenever he wasn't in solitary, LP managed to befriend the fearsome four, got them to realize the enemy they really need to take down is darkwarrior duck, (mostly because he was horrible to their cool friend) and they changed their names to the fearless four. (they wanted it to be the fearless five but seriously LP is not a villain. even if they are reformed villains.)
when he comes to visit, Our drake tells thad to look for a launchpad mcquack in this dimension while trying to get thad to come home, because Our gosalyn loves him and any launchpad would take such good care of the darker dimension gosalyn. he's unfortunately on a time limit and thad forces him to go home alone, but he goes out hunting for a launchpad after because he has to be ready when they come back for them.
so as it turns out he ends up busting launchpad out of supervillain jail, first alone and then with the help of the fearless four. thad is so kind to him in a time he really needs it, and launchpad swears to take care of gos before thad ever thinks about going nudge nudge can you take care of my granddaughter when i have to go home to my own dimension. they love each other so quickly.
demolition duck is intentionally more of a mystery. in the story in my head, the purpose he serves is as something for drake to reflect on. but here are some things about him.
when drake visited the darker dimension the first time, he took a look at the world, let alone the fact that the show that saved him never existed, and thought he couldn't possibly be alive here. (part of the reason he only tells thad to look for LP.)
but he was. he wasn't know as drake- without darkwing duck as the catalyst, he transitioned a bit later, and transitioned directly into Demolition Duck, a punk bomb-wielding supervillain without a secret identity. if people hate him, good. it means they're looking.
demo, living in duckburg at the time, saw launchpad on the news the day he crashed into darkwarrior tower and was instantly taken with him as much as the fearless four. but like in a gay way. he said dang it, i'm going to move to st. canard and cause darkwarrior a lot of headaches as well. he didn't meet launchpad for a year because he was very busy in solitary confinement, but he drew and wrote a lot of extremely fantasized poetry about him. he tried busting him out a couple times but was super incompetent. <3
Our drake meets him briefly on his second visit to the dimension, amidst all the chaos, and it leaves a powerful impression. drake would have latched onto anything to stay alive, no matter how bleak the world he lived in.
launchpad does not fight when demolition duck weasels his way into his life during and after getting rid of darkwarrior duck, partially from seeing how Very Good Friends their alternate universe selves are, (to the point that thad mistakenly assumed and told him they were married) and after Our guys leave, demo becomes just as attached to gosalyn as LP is.
demo steals drake's name just like he stole all those bomb ingredients, and gos has two dads and four Fearless uncles.
