hey did i ever mention that for a few days back in ye olde 2014, before s10 ever aired, i became briefly deeply obsessed with the idea of demon!dean becoming the new cain and recruiting demon!bela to be his second-in-command aka the new abaddon? i even decided i would write a multichapter fic about it but only ever published two chapters because 1) hyperfixation ran out and 2) i really didn’t think the plot through very hard other than “dean and bela being sexy narrative mirrors again except this time they’re Evil and Doing Crime for fun”. and frankly i think that was a good concept if not very well planned out!! sexier than the actual demon!dean arc we got at least!!

ANYWAY i never finished the fic but more importantly i DID make a playlist for it on 8tracks (because those were the cursed pre-spotify days) and while that playlist is also EXTREMELY 2014 i simply refuse to be embarrassed about it bc it DOES have bangers on it, and it’s, to this day,  the only spn playlist i have ever made (yes. an au demon!dean and demon!bela playlist. i don’t know either. life is wild y’all). so i’m bringing it back like a ~blast from the past~ (and YES i even made a poorly edited cover and tracklist. what was i gonna do, simply not make a cd leaflet?! it was 2014.) you’re welcome ✨

soldiers and knights - a demon!bela tale

It took her a long time to climb her way out. Years above; centuries down below. She’d met him there, seen him periodically through his change. Hell was vast but Lilith kept her favourites close by.

She felt her own change as the days of torture blurred into weeks, months, years. Slowly the corruption seeped through her flesh and muscles and into her bones. Darkness that she’d never felt in her human life ate at her soul, whipping her raw nerves til they bled black.

The day the angels came, she was sent to the front line. Lilith’s good little soldier. She wore her black eyes with a perverse sense of honour and as the battle raged she fell back with her garrison.

Years of one goal, one mission.

Protect him. Defend him.

Give Alistair time to break him.

Oh and he broke so pretty.

He broke long before the angels reached him, yet they still fought towards him, determined to raise him for some future purpose.

She stood by his side until the end. The irony was not lost on her, and probably not on him but she never got the chance to ask. The angels came, burning bright and bloody, and destroyed most of her troop. She was unlucky enough to survive the onslaught; Lilith and Alistair took savage pleasure in the reprimand of the soldiers who failed.

The years passed. She studied, she learned; she watched the leaders change more than once.

Then she heard whispers, rumours, that he was coming home. He was so close to his own change back then, but they got to him before it was fully complete. Now, they said, he had black eyes and a blade of bone.

She waited. They all waited.

A new whisper spread through the halls - the king had given him up. Sent him to be cured (tortured, killed; there was no cure for them) by his brother and his angel.

She gathered a command and they started the journey topside. They needed to reach him before they killed him ... they needed to protect him. Bring him home.

Heaven had taken him once before. Now, they were going to get him back.

Bestie this is pulling me out of my funk and now I'm stuck here thinking of blood junkie John and demon Bela

Imagine Bella and Ruby being in different Hell factions... Wait.

Ok, John never died, because instead of Azazel wanting the gun and his life for Dean's, John agreed to drink Azazel's blood to save BOTH his boys. But he can't let them see what he will become, so Azazel fakes John's death as part of their deal.

John's first taste of demon blood is from Azazel's mouth when they seal the deal. He may not be the promised boyking, but the blood does awaken something in him. Azazel gives him just enough to feel that rush of power. Lets him hunt monsters and (unbeknownst to John, though if it weren't for the blood addiction he might think about it) enemy faction demons.

And John resents Azazel as much as he needs him, because no other demon's blood measures up. But when Azazel disappears and leaves John craving for days, he finds out Sam was kidnapped for Azazel's boyking battle royale anyway, and of course he shows up at the hell gate "as a ghost" and helps them kill Azazel.

Then John walks into Hell to look for the demon that holds his contract (and someone to bleed for his addiction). He doesn't find out about Sam dying and Dean selling his soul until he's already in Hell.

Time doesn't move fluidly for him down there, but it's not one month = ten years, because most of his time down there is spent hunting and bleeding demons, not being tortured in a time loop.

At some point, he's approached by Bela -- who took up demon status quickly down there and girlbossed her way into Crowley's circle (they're both double crossing each other, but they're also both against Lilith's faction). Bela tells John Lilith has his and Dean's contracts, and helps him get topside via Crossroads.

Bela's blood is the best he's had since Azazel.
