So, I was rewatching shadowhunters and this au wouldn’t leave me alone, so this is ya’ll’s problem now too
I’d just like to start by saying Demon!alec is criminally understated. seriously, i wish there were more demon!alec. that being said,
Magnus Lightwood is a shadowhunter. The firstborn son of Maryse and Robert lightwood.
His parents and himself have a strained relationship because he is very out and very proud, but they made their peace with it.
They’re also holding out hope that he’ll marry a girl since he’s bi.
He does have a great relationship with his siblings, so there’s that.
They need the help of a warlock after they meet Clarissa Fray,
So, obviously they go to the high warlock of Brooklyn............ Lorenzo.
Only there was a slight mistake when he tried to summon the memory demon.
The demon who came from it wasn’t a memory demon.
They’d have a far easier time figuring things out if the demon hadn’t gotten out of the circle and proceeded to stare at Magnus for a while and then deciding he likes Magnus now and doesn’t deem anything else important.
Seriously, Magnus’ life would be so much easier.
the demon is Alec. of course the demon is Alec, who else could the demon fathomably be?
why is he there in place of the memory demon you ask? well, he saw a summoning, and he wanted to get out of Edom.
“But that doesn’t make sense , we didn’t summon you” says Jace

Now for the backstory :)
Alec was an angel who fell. because of course he was. he fell in love with a young warlock. a brilliant and kind man who he loved and loved him back very much called Magnus Bane
Some people assorted shadowhunters and certain downworlders didn’t think an angel should be in love with a downworlder, someone who had demon blood in them.
Magnus and Alec ignored them.
They killed Magnus, and Alec fell from grace in his grief and rage.
Magnus was reborn with angel blood, because he asked in his dying breath to be rid of demon blood if that’s why he can’t be with Alexander
And, well, Alec waited for centuries for Magnus, shadowhunter of not, He’s not letting him go.
