❛  no,  that’s  a  terrible  idea.  ❜   a  phrase  he  always  seems  to  voice  around  him   ––  jace  too  (  WILL  THEY  EVER  LET  HIM  BE  ?  )  &  it  never  seems  to  stop  said  idea  from  happening  either,  much  to  his  chagrin.  he  still  tries  or  at  least  makes  some  EFFORT  to  dissuade  him  from  going  through  with  it.  after  all,  someone  needs  to  be  the  responsible  one  here.  but  he  doubts  it’ll  be  any  DIFFERENT  this  time  around.  a  sigh  quickly  falls  from  lips  at  the  very  thought,  cautious  gaze  settling  on  dante,  ready  to  leave  at  a moment’s  notice  before  anything  BAD  can  happen.

MOUTH  AGAPE  AT  THE  SUDDEN  DECLARATION,  he  needs  a  moment  to  process  the  words.  it’s  a  joke,  right  ?  just  another  way  to  fluster  the  shadowhunter,  get  under  his  skin,  something  in  which  dante’s  become  exceptionally  good  at.  he  never  knows  what  to  think  around  the  other  let  alone  what  to  expect.  &  this,  this  is  not  what  he  expected  at  all.  but  more  than  anything  he’s  confused.  alec’s  believed  all  the  times  they’ve  kissed,  the  flirtatious  sometimes  lewd  comments,  except  for  a  few  genuine  compliments  dante’s  thrown  at  him,  it’s  all  just  him  messing  with  the  lightwood.  just  a  game,  only  playing  with  him  until  he  gets  bored  or  tired  of  him.  

yet even  with  such  belief,  alec’s  come  to  care  for  dante  almost  as  much  as  he  cares  for  jace  &  isabelle.  a  realization  that  surprises  alec.  he  also  didn’t  notice  how  much  he’s  opened  up  to  him,  letting  him  in  a  little  bit  more  each  time  dante  pushes  or  even  how  much  he’s  actually  come  to  mean  to  him  until  now.  &  truthfully,  he  enjoys  dante’s  presence  more  than  he  ever  thought  he  would.  still,  a  huge  part  of  him  figures  it’s  a  prank.  at  least,  that’s  the  most  logical  explanation  to  alec.  but  what  if  it’s  not  ?  what  if  he’s  being  serious  ?  what  if  this  isn’t  a  joke  ?

&  a  thousand  more  thoughts  are  running  through  his  head  even  now  while  he  speaks.
