Project done! Presenting circa ‘76 Denis Potvin NYI sweater. Size unknown. Old durene sweater was in good condition - but the crest was spindled and distorted, wavy and shrunk to an oval. The old version is to the left in the first pic. What I did: Some stain treadment with Oxiclean on some small brown spots. A few holes inside hems fixed and part of the hem that was pulled up restitched. Tried reshaping the crest but it was far gone. Removed stitching - it just fell off, the old adhesive was dead. Found a comparable crest on Ebay. Ironed a glue-patch sheet to backside of crest, placed on jersey, ironed in place with Teflon sheet to avoid scorching and zigzag stitched down. Made the numbers up myself. It’s not a kit. Bought a poly-cotton orange twill and a satin-y blue polyester. Researched number styles and made it up in Photoshop, sized and printed them. Ironed adhesive patch sheet to reverse of fabric. Used a temp spray glue for graphics designers on the washed and preshrunk fabric, and a very good exacto knife and ruler to cut through the paper pattern and fabric. Sewed numbers together, placed on sweater and ironed with Teflon sheet to avoid scorched. Zigzag stitched the numbers. Washed it again, and done! #denispotvin #newyorkislanders #vintagehockey #vintagehockeyjersey #hockeyjersey #hockeysweater https://www.instagram.com/p/CMbqfpJAgWm/?igshid=67yuz1p74m7m
