Asa Denji <3 Valentines doodle I forgot to post!
there’s a hole here
(concept for my video [fan] game)
I really don’t think there’s a more realistic or better writing for a hedonistic character that tends to move on rather quickly from traumatic experiences (or runs away at times) as a manner of coping. Did it hurt any less because he already regained his footing?
No, of course not. Just because you bounce back right after experiencing something quite traumatic doesn’t mean that it didn’t affect you whatsoever. The emotional and mental wounds remain, only time can heal them but that hole will never be fully filled again. Denji soothes himself with the thought of being able to find family over and over again, no matter what which in itself is growth because this doesn’t mean he views people as replaceable, he’s simply aware he can start again even if he’s been set back to point zero. No matter what.
hey chat we're in a simulation right ??? CSM will be back !! (。•̀ ⤙ •́ 。ꐦ) !!!
What Do They Want?
What does Denji want?
For a while, Denji has wanted a normal, comfortable life. But at the time of writing, every aspect of that normal life has been burned to the ground—literally, for his apartment and everything in it. Schoolbooks and TV and beds and bread and Makima's dogs and Meowy. Nayuta was murdered, and this chapter has Denji and Yoru all but turn to the camera and say she's not coming back.
The Hayakawa family was slaughtered. Nayuta's head was served to him on a platter. Everyone he's ever cared about is either dead, or tried to kill him, or both.
What's left?
Denji spends a lot of Chapter 192 on pursuing simple pleasure: A dinner date with one of the few people he has left (one of the ones who wants to kill him) while Tokyo burns.
He's still got some hope. A little.
He knows it won't be the same. Nayuta's gone, Power's gone. Asa and Yoru are the only friends he has left.
He just doesn't care any more. He wants to have fun while he can.
What does Yoru want?
She keeps saying she'll turn Denji into a weapon. But she's had the opportunity to do that for a while, and she hasn't done squat.
Uh huh. That's why you decided to cook pot stickers for him and chat about the Death Devil and sit in his lap.
I don't know what Yoru wants with Denji, but Yoru clearly doesn't either. She's developed some kind of affection for Denji, but clearly doesn't want to admit it to anyone. Herself least of all.
What does Asa want?
The omens are grim.
