CHILDREN as young as four are being referred to gender services clinics. 

They were among 3,724 kids who had specialist treatment between April 2024 and last month. 

Twenty-three were aged four to six despite critics saying they are too young to feel transgender.

A further 75 were aged between seven and ten. 

Our stats, from a freedom of information request, show those sent to the NHS Gender National Referral Support Service by youth mental health specialists. 

GP Dr Renee Hoenderkamp said: “Many will have serious mental conditions, like ADHD, which they should be treated for.

“But the pathway for that is not through a referral to a gender services clinic.

“You have to question who is referring them as well, because I know what conversation I would have with a four-year-old’s parents who want to be a dog or a princess or whatever. 

“Parents should be guiding their children back to what they actually are, while still allowing them to explore.” 

NHS England’s own review, led by Dr Hilary Cass and published in April 2024, found children who show signs of gender confusion mostly grow out of it before puberty. 

Her review led to regional NHS hubs replacing the scandal-hit Tavistock clinic, and ended the routine prescription of puberty blockers to under-18s.  

But she said there should still be no minimum age for referrals and an NHS spokesman said: “Dr Cass’s report made clear services should support families as early as possible.”

Children as young as three years old are being referred to a gender diversity clinic, prompting a South Australian MP to call for an independent review of gender dysphoria treatment.

The Women’s and Children Hospital reported three children aged between three and five years old were seen by its services between March 2022 and March 2024.

More than 80 children aged between six and 10 years old were seen over the same period.

The clinic was seeing 285 children under the age of 18 since April this year, although some of these referrals were for the same patient.

SA Health Minister Chris Picton recently released the figures to independent MP Frank Pangallo after he asked a question without notice in parliament earlier this year.

The Women’s and Children’s Health Network said none of the children currently being assessed were under the age of six.

The hospital said on its website, children referred to the gender diversity team were given mental health support.

They are referred for further medical treatments, such as puberty suppression and gender-affirming hormones, if necessary.

Legal guardian consent maybe required for patients under the age of 16, the hospital said.

Pangallo questioned whether youth under the age of 18 could make “life-changing decisions” to change their gender.

He’s been calling for a parliamentary inquiry into gender dysphoria, that did not receive the support of Labor or The Greens when it was proposed earlier this year.

Pangallo is concerned that some medical practitioners may be too quick to support gender transitions of young people without investigating whether there are other reasons leading to their gender dysphoria.

“The concerns are whether it’s best practice and whether what’s happening in these gender clinics is in the best interest of young people,” Pangallo said.

“Members of the left of the Labor Party are resisting calls for an independent review into the practices and guidelines of gender clinics in this country and in the state when this is happening worldwide.

“This is about child protection and whether they are receiving the best treatment.”

Hormone therapy for teenagers

The hospital said its “service has not provided gender hormone treatment to anyone under the age of 14 and has not provided puberty blockers to anyone under the age of nine”.

It said it does not offer surgical treatment options.

“All youth undergo initial assessment and care as indicated from the mental health team prior to proceeding for medical assessment or intervention,” a spokesperson said.

“Not all children referred to our service will go on to access medical-based treatment.”

The South Australian Rainbow Advocacy Alliance said Pangallo’s commentary on the subject caused “psychological harm” to the gender diverse community.

It said only about one to 2 per cent of gender diverse people detransitioned, and these people required further support.

“We believe that this support needs to come in the form of research, medical and therapeutic options, not in the removal of autonomy of gender diverse people,” a spokesperson said.

Chloe Cole started hormone treatments at 15, then detransitioned at 17 and is now a prominent advocate against gender treatments for children.

She said she was failed by therapists and doctors who were supportive of her gender-affirming treatments, but unsupportive of her wanting to be a girl again.

“I’ve seen first hand the damage those treatments do to the body, to the development of a child, sexually, psychologically, emotionally,” Cole said.

“No child understands their identity or fully understands their body especially at age 3,4,5.”

Cole is touring Australia with WA woman Courtney Coulson to advocate for a review of gender-affirming care.

Coulson under-went a female to male transition at 22-years-old, then detransitioned at 28.

She said the hormone therapy she was prescribed was fraught with complications.

“When seeking treatment, no doctor took the time to investigate my background, my relationships, my family, my sexuality or mental health issues, nor did they offer me a mental health care plan,” Coulson said.

“Instead, after two appointments with an endocrinologist, I was prescribed testosterone.”

Pangallo said a review of gender-affirming treatment in the United Kingdom led to it adopting a “holistic approach” to care instead of rapidly initiating permanent gender transition pathways.

It also emphasised the need to address the root causes of their distress.

The United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights supported the changes and said researchers who express views of such interventions “are not silenced, threatened or intimidated simply for holding and articulating such views”.

SA Health Minister Chris Picton said South Australia would consider the findings of a review in NSW investigating national and international scientific literature, research and evidence on gender care when it is released.

“The Royal Australasian College of Physicians — the peak professional body for doctors in this area — has previously opposed a parliamentary inquiry in relation to this matter,” he said.

Andrew Doyle: So the Gay Men's Network official response to the Cass review is now live, it is subtitled "Towards a Vision of Post-Gender Gay Rights," and it describes the Cass review as a devastating account of an unprecedented homophobic medical scandal in the NHS and private health sphere. And here to discuss it, I'm joined by Dennis Kavanagh, the lawyer and director of the Gay Men's Network. Welcome Dennis.

So, let's start with your report from the Gay Men's Network. What is your response, in a nutshell, to the Cass review?

Dennis Kavanagh: Our response is basically this. That this is a sad day for the gay rights movement. Cass is a reality check and it's shown us that for decades now, homosexuality has in effect been medicalized at the NHS. You and I've spoken before about the fact that 90% of the kids at the Tavistock were same sex attracted.

Doyle: Which has been confirmed by the Cass review.

Kavanagh: Precisely that. So, we say this. We say this is a shocking indictment of gay politics and of the gay rights movement generally. Particularly in view of the fact that the very people who should have been protecting gay youth, principally Stonewall, weren't just abandoned, didn't just abandon their post, they joined the opposition forces, when they should have been standing up for these kids.

Doyle: And what do you think their response will be now? I know Stonewell put out a kind of unclear statement, sort of saying we accept the findings of the Cass review. But it wasn't that clear, was it?

Kavanagh: They've had two statements. They put out a tweet saying that they accepted the Cass review. Their own supporters then turned on them fairly viciously to express their displeasure with it. They've now released a longer statement in which they're scrabbling around in the Cass review for crumbs of hope, saying, well it's not a blanket ban on puberty blockers because there're still a possibility of a clinical trial, for example.

But Stonewall need to get real on this. This is over now. Dr. Cass has called time on this homophobic medical scandal. The sitting Secretary of State, the shadow Secretary of State for Health have accepted Cass. It's time for Stonewall to do the same, actually show some leadership and some concern for gay youth.

I would make this point if I may, Andrew. That statement from Stonewall, it didn't have the word gay or lesbian in it once. That's a powerful indication there.

Doyle: Okay, well it might be worth just reading out what Stonewall said they said, "Dr. Cass has not called for adolescents to have their right to their Identity or autonomy removed. Nor did Dr. Cass recommend the blanket ban on social transitioning for children of any age. Most significantly, Dr. Cass did not support unilateral 'outing' of trans young people by schools. There are clear gaps between recommendations and practical policy, and we're already hearing early reports of Dr Cass's analysis of - and recommendations about - social transitioning being used to challenge trans people's right to Identity."

But it's interesting as you say, Dennis, they don't mention the key issue here, which is their failure to stand up for gay and lesbian youth.

Kavanagh: Yeah, and what a gloss on the Cass report that is. If you look at what the Cass report actually says that social transitioning, says where this occurs, there should be reference to a clinician almost immediately because it's not a neutral act. You won't find that in the Stonewall response, because Stonewall don't seem to care about concretizing cross-sex ideation, predominantly among homosexual young population.

Doyle: But they have bought into this idea that everyone is born with a gender identity and that that might be misaligned to the body. So, this is a belief system that is now so embedded in Stonewall, isn't it time that Stonewall was just no longer taken seriously?

Kavanagh: I entirely agree. In 2015, Stonewall added the T to the LGB under the leadership of Ruth Hunt, who promised everyone she wasn't going to do that but performed a vault fast. Which is why she's now facing, in the wake of this medical scandal, she's now facing a petition started by the author Simon Edge, which is coming up on, I think, 16,000-odd signatures, a petition to remove her from the House of Lords.

Doyle: I know you say that it's time's up now thanks to Cass, but isn't it going to be tough? And the reason I say that is there are still so many prominent gay and lesbian celebrities and groups and politicians, who are saying that they're standing up for Stonewall, who are standing up for the idea that kids may have a misaligned soul and body. And actually, given the prominence of those people, maybe voices like yours are the minority here.

Kavanagh: Well, that may or may not be the case, but what matters here is not the weight of numbers. What matters here is who is right about safeguarding these children. And if I'm one voice in 100, I don't care, if I'm right. I do think Stonewall are losing purchase in the public sphere, though. I do think politicians are beginning to realize that something has gone very, very seriously wrong here. It is heartening to see a cross-party consensus of serious politicians from the main, the larger parties embracing Cass and saying that a post-Cass NHS should effectively entirely rid itself of this poisonous ideology.

Doyle: And will it be taken up by the politicians? I mean, I know Alicia Kearns was adding an amendment to the criminal justice bill to try and ban what she calls "trans conversion therapy," but actually Cass specifically refers to this, saying that actually, this should not be mistaken, this should not be confused in the way that she's doing. She doesn't name Alicia Kearns, but she says that it is a common confusion.

Kavanagh: Yeah, and we've drawn this to Alicia Kearns's attention. We actually produced a briefing notes at Gay Men's Network on that amendment to the criminal justice bill. We've drawn Dr. Cass's comments to her attention. So far, we've heard absolutely nothing. Miss Kearns seems to think it's fine to speak over and speak for gay men, when gay men are telling her, look there's a problem with this piece of legislation and it has the capacity to harm gay boys.

Doyle: What I don't understand is so many of these people, they all agree that Section 28 was this terrible thing and the idea of the so-called promotion of homosexuality in schools, it should never have happened. And here they are presiding over something which is arguably even worse.

Kavanagh: Yeah, I agree it is an absurd situation and it is Orwellian, frankly, for them to be introducing such homophobic legislation and then telling us that it's a gay conversion ban. As we've discussed before, that is precisely the opposite of what it is. What it is, is state sanctioned conversion by gender and criminal penalties for doctors that don't go along with it. We call upon Alicia Kearns to withdraw this silly homophobic amendment, and we call on the Scottish government to scrap their proposed piece of legislation, which is even worse than the Kearns amendment.

Doyle: Is it time to divide LGB and T?

Kavanagh: Yes. Our interests have been demonstrated now to be entirely contrary to each other. And look, we are different protected characteristics, right. The those who have the gender reassignment characteristic under the Equality Act, good luck to them, and they of course should have rights in law. No one's opposed to that. But this force-teaming, this marriage cannot work, and it's become an abusive relationship.

Doyle: I don't understand because I saw Jeremy Corbyn speak this week, saying that there is no LGB without the T. How can it be the case that gay people who want to organize in their own interests should be connected automatically to the belief in a gender identity, which is a completely separate thing to sexual orientation? Does he not, has he not even talked to people about this, or attempted to understand?

Kavanagh: It's just another straight man telling us how to organize. How dare? How dare he stand up and say, you gays, you can't organize unless you force-team with a bunch of other people that I, a straight man, have chosen for you? Jeremy Corbyn has no right to say that to us. He doesn't understand this issue. He doesn't understand that our interests are sometimes contradictory, as is demonstrated by this global homophobic medical scandal.

Doyle: Now I wanted to ask you about an open letter that has been put together by James Esses, who's a campaigner, and this is a letter which has a number of signatories including yourself, and I should say for complete transparency, including myself. And this is calling on the government to have a full investigation into the impact of gender identity ideology in all aspects of public life. Can you tell us a bit more about that?

Kavanagh: Sure, I can tell you I'm one of the three directors of Gay Men's Network, all three of us have signed this and we support James's efforts here. We also call for a public inquiry in our consultation response. We invite ministers to consider their powers under Section One of the 2005 Inquiries Act, which is established to deal with areas of public concern. Well, what more could be of public concern than a medical scandal where the harm is disproportionately visited on defenceless children? If that's not a matter of public concern, I don't know what is. We need to get gender ideology out of the public sphere. We've got an NHS calling, insulting women by calling them uterus-havers. We've got the BBC teaching kids there's 100 genders. We've got the CPS introducing-- or proposing, two-tier prosecution standards in the case of sex by deception, which we've discussed in the past. We got Kemi Badenoch saying, across the floor of the Commons, I was told by my officials, her civil servants, that I shouldn't meet with Keira Bell, and we know that that meeting had a fundamental effect on that minister.

Doyle: That's a detransitioner.

Kavanagh: That's right. Keira Bell, who heroically and courageously brought the case of Bell and Tavistock a judicial review. So, we support James's call for there to be a public inquiry. This ideology has run riot. None of us voted for it. None of us got a say in this. And yet, it seems to have infested all areas of public life. We're sick of it because, as we can see with Cass, this is not an academic debate, right. It's not the Judith Butlers and the gendercrats and, you know, the Stonewall's CEOs at their black-tie dinners who pay the price for this. Who pays the price? Vulnerable kids. Autistic kids. Kids that are looked after. This is not okay. We need to deal with this.

Doyle: And you make the point about it not being democratic. It is in both parties. You know, this is the-- we can't vote this out. There's no way. So, is it likely that a public consultation or investigation will happen?

Kavanagh: Well, we shall see. We're making the case for it, that's all we can do for the time being. James has amassed a very impressive list of signatories from all sides of the House. We've got to get real about this. This is a medical scandal without equal. This was gay conversion 2.0 at the Tavistock. Lives have been ruined by this. Evidence from the Mayo Clinic in America just last week suggests that boys given puberty blockers have testicular atrophy, so the tissue in the testicles is degrading, and an increased cancer risk. That's where "gender" has led us to. There's going to-- heaven forbid, but it does seem likely that we're going to end up with some boy walking around now, probably in America going to end up with cancer in his testicles because of these clowns and what they unleashed on defenceless children.

“Pride month” is a pointless cultural magnet for Vichy gays, biology denying handmaidens, cross dressing heterosexual males, cynical corporations, gutless politicians and foolish mediocrities adopting novel gender identities. Any sensible actual homosexual will run a mile from our overcrowded and conquered rainbow, daubed as it now is across corporate logos that once despised us and still do where supporting actual gays is a challenge and where it might threaten them making a buck, the Middle East being the most obvious example.

The simple reality is that the increasingly absurd LGBTWTAFOMFG movement is now an authoritarian bourgeois gender cult known mostly for ferociously demanding compliance with increasingly eccentric language games as it repeats the final demand of the Party in 1984 - to make the populace reject the evidence of their eyes under pain of cancellation. There is no rightful celebration to be had here, the crowded plastic rainbow is simply McCarthyism by gender, a snake eating it’s own tail so contorted by the demands of cross dressing heterosexuals it now promotes woke conversion therapy for gays.

And so I ask, are you proud of the following?

Proud of your homophobia?

Are you proud of the emergence of conversion therapy by gender? You proud of the language that accompanies it calling gay people “genital fetishists”? You proud that gay rights events now say that gay men who don’t want to engage in heterosexual sex are somehow “phobic”? Proud of that?

You proud that biology denial has coined the terms “cotton ceiling” and “boxer ceiling” framing same-sex sexual boundaries as obstacles to be overcome? You proud of the deeply coercive “workshops” that go along with this?

You proud of homophobia being identified as a safeguarding concern at the Tavistock in Sonia Appleby’s case? You proud of the fact the charity Mermaids was found to make clinical decisions there more difficult? You proud of the struck off Dr. Webberley giving children life changing drugs? You proud of the fact most the kids who face the gender abattoir would otherwise grow up gay? You proud of keeping quiet about this?

You proud of teaching little children they have the wrong bodies? You proud of what that must feel like? You proud of the confusion and pain that must cause? You proud of beguiling them and celebrating that and seducing them into this ideology on social media?

Are you proud of creating the concept of a detransitioner? Are you proud of ignoring or vilifying them?

You proud of telling gay people the most marginalised and traduced people on the planet are cross dressing AGP males? You proud of prioritising their political interests above those of homosexuals? You proud of making the gay rights movement obsessed with compromising female boundaries and spaces?

You proud of misusing our painful history of conversion therapy to try to criminalise doctors and therapists at gender clinics who try to engage in talking therapy instead of pushing mostly gay kids into lifelong medicalisation and surgery? You proud of going after and libelling gay medics who call you out?

Are you proud of a growing discourse that calls lesbians “sexual racists”, one that sees Billy Bragg compare our organisations to the Nazis just because they defend same sex attraction or people saying in public your cotton ceiling workshops are somehow equivalent to the racial healing process in South Africa which casts us gay people as racists in favour of apartheid? You proud of that being said to younger, more vulnerable gay people likely to be hurt or upset at suggestions they are morally wrong?

You proud you’re complicit in the rewriting of gay history lying about drag queen Marsha P Johnson at pride? You proud you’re denying a minority community agency or a legacy by saying we owe our rights to others rather than the brave homosexuals who fought for them? You proud people repeat these lies to us homosexuals?

[ That it needs to be said is remarkable enough. That it needs to be said to LGBTWTAF organisations is an absurdity without equal ]

You proud of vilifying gay people, charities or organisations that don’t go along with this? You proud of using your attack dogs in the media to cancel gay men and lesbians who dare to challenge you? You proud of turning some of your fiercest abuse on homosexuals who dare to disagree?

Are you, Stonewall, proud of changing the definition of homosexual in your glossary to “homogendered” but not changing the definition of heterosexual? Are you proud of ignoring the gay men and lesbians who object to their identity being summarily and unilaterally changed because you prioritise the ideological requirements of biology denial over listening to gay people?

Are you, Stonewall, proud of adopting biology denial in 2015 even though your then CEO, Ruth Hunt, acknowledged it would be divisive? Are you proud of inflicting a schism upon the gay community and ignoring the vast numbers of lesbians and gay men who pointed out then and now that the ideology is fundamentally homophobic?

You proud to have made the gay rights movement simultaneously a laughing stock and a deeply hated social force that achieves compliance only through fear by false allegations of hate?

Proud of your increasingly absurd legal adventures like reporting the EHRC to a UN committee that used to have Russia as a member and still has Uganda? You proud of how that looks?

Are you proud to have made “what is a woman” the Schleswig bloody Holstein question of our day? You proud that cowards won’t answer it and that decent people who tell the truth get cancelled? You proud of calling women “bleeders” or “menstruators” or “cervix havers”? You proud of speaking about half the human race like this?

You proud of rape shelters getting closed down in Canada or one in Edinburgh where raped women who understandably don’t want to be around males however they “identify” get called “bigots” who must “reframe their trauma”, you proud of that?

You proud of trans identifying males in women’s prisons? You proud of making the women in such prisons terrified?

You proud of what you’ve done to women’s sports?

You proud of the fact many venues now have a men’s toilets and a unisex one?

You proud of harassing women from their jobs? Yeah, what about the lesbians like Professors Stock or Pheonix, you proud of the stress, terror and bullying they were put through?

You proud of creating a digital and social atmosphere of misogyny without equal? You proud of a movement that uses the word “terf” where it just wants to say “bitch”? You proud of harassing women’s meetings? You proud of white bourgeois kids dressing up as ninjas assaulting women in Manchester? You proud of placards reading “suck my dick terfs” being waved at mothers?

You proud of women being threatened with arrest for speaking on social media? You proud of women like JK Rowling routinely receiving rape and death threats?

You proud of making women victims in rape trials say “her penis”?

Proud of your authoritarianism?

You proud that people are genuinely scared to speak out for fear of you going for their jobs or wellbeing? Proud to have made the gay rights movement a vehicle for threatening people? Proud of achieving a McCarthyite state of fearful compliance?

You proud that you can’t handle debate? Proud that this is the case to the point you childishly bellow “no debate?”

You proud of compelled speech, compelled thought, absurd mantras in place of discussion?

You proud of cancelling people who oppose you instead of meeting them as equals in debate? Proud of going after their social media accounts? Proud of your people celebrating their opponents losing their jobs?

Proud of your new corporate/union friends?

You proud of companies that only fly the rainbow where it’s safe? You proud they wouldn’t dare in parts of the world where it might help a gay person?

You proud of cosy corporate arrangements where any dissent at work is supressed?

You proud of LGBTWTAF company groups that behave like the secret police and are normally regarding with veiled loathing and fear?

You proud of rainbow lanyards/branding and the trivialisation of our movement and history so companies can pink wash their images?

You proud of unions, such as the UCU in the case of Professor Stock who openly condemned her rather than stand by a wrong-thinking lesbian?

You proud of charities where each parrots the same unscientific homophobic biology denying cult speak?

Proud of your ignorance?

You proud of giving kids experimental drugs that reduce bone density, do not relieve trauma and lead in most cases to lifelong medicalisation/early menopause/sterility?

You proud of replacing scientific fact with ideology?

Proud of getting medics to repeat absurd phrases like “sex assigned at birth”?

You proud of a healthcare system moving closer and closer to the Iranian gender model?

You proud of a generation of lesbians in the US crowdfunding double mastectomies because you told them they weren’t real women?

You proud of not collecting data on biological sex accurately skewing everything from HIV/AIDS planning to care for the detrans population?

So spare me please.

Spare me your quite unwarranted claims to any “pride” in anything for you have nothing to be proud of. All your movement has done if try to prise humans from reality to better suit the demands of the largely heterosexual cross dressing movement you have now surrendered to. You have made gay rights a client state and the master is absurdity, the male heterosexual obsession with the female form/spaces/lives and bodies.

This homosexual male wants nothing to do with the lot of you, your convenient, superficial, banal rainbows or your always mendacious forked tongue whether you are misrepresenting history, science, politics, whatever.

”Take Pride” is apparently your thing for 2022.
