Dennor fic :>
I’m the luckiest guy on earth.
My name is Matthias Køhler, and I’m a kindergarten teacher. I love my job… I love the kids, I love seeing how excited they get when we start learning something exciting, or watching how creative their little minds are when we do show and tell or bring out the legos. It makes me feel like I’m actually doing something right. However, one thing in my life didn’t go right…but I wouldn't change it for all the money in the world.
When I was 24, in my senior year of college at Aarhus University, a certain stoic hottie named Lukas struck me through the heart, and before I knew it I was dashing through Copenhagen airport in my graduates’ robes to catch a plane to Norway.
I found a teaching job in Oslo before long, and moved in with Lukas. We started falling for each other more than either of us ever thought possible, and after sleepless nights and general gushy romantic stuff, I asked him to marry me.
That was all 5 years ago, and now here I am today, with an amazing husband and adopted son, and the best job I could ever ask for to fit my hyper, if not awesome, personality.
Today I was feeling a bit more hyper than normal (probably because little Emil asked me so nicely to eat some of his super sugary cereal this morning), so, naturally, I decided to give the class some free time to play with my Legos so I could step out and grab some water from the teachers’ lounge. However, after leaving the door ajar and taking a few steps, I heard rushed waddles and a cute shout of “dad!” from behind me. With a big grin, I spun on my heel and was almost knocked off balance by a certain silver haired toddler. I scooped Emil off of the ground, and heard a small “ahem” from behind me. Smirking, I set Emil down and turned to give my impatient husband a little kiss.
He smiled ever so slightly, then pulled away and attempted to maintain an exasperated expression. From what I gathered from his adorable excuse for scolding me, I forgot my lunch at home again. I led him and Emil into my classroom and took the paper bag (consisting of a tuna sandwich and pineapple cup) from him, and gave him another, more drawn out kiss, ignoring the ews and various protests from Emil. However, after what felt like only seconds, we were interrupted by 2 little girls named Lilli and Elizabeta, who were giggling like mad. Lukas quickly drew back, blushing, while I laughed and asked what the girls wanted. After they could control their quiet laughter, they asked me very politely if Lukas could stay and read the Hans Christian Anderson stories that I kept up on the shelves to them. Sadly, he had to leave to take Emil to daycare, which earned some weak protests from the crowd of little ones.
However, as he and Emil were waving goodbye, and the children went back to their multicolored towers and forts, I thought to myself the same thing I had earlier that morning.
I’m the luckiest guy on earth.
