✨N With a Really Dense Reader!✨
* He is a sweet man. He loves Pokemon, nature, and now you. Something about you really draws him in. Maybe it’s the fact you don’t mind his strange traits or maybe even consider his ideals with an open heart and mind. And that makes him feel absolutely smitten by you. He usually is an expert on pokemon but relationships and social cues with other humans were much more difficult to understand. But he still decides to try, seeing you were worth trying for.
* However- he quickly sees the new problem that arises. How? Well he tries a shy yet subtle way of trying to court you. Taking you out on moonlit picnics or giving you meaningful gifts. Being genuine since it’s how he truly feels about you. Only to overhear you saying “Yeah N is so cool! He’s the best friend I could ever ask for!”
* Got that man questioning what the hell did he do wrong. He was SURE his stories about romance gave very point blank romance advice. Roses, beautiful areas to dine at, genuine compliments…ok yeah he shouldn’t rely on fiction either but he’s trying. So what is he doing wrong?
* He even goes to his pokemon team, getting their opinions too. And his team are pretty observant bunches. And they all sigh and had to break it down to him in their language: You meant well. But didn’t really know if his gestures were romantic or just genuinely nice since…well to be fair on your part, N is ALWAYS nice. Which makes N surprised. Could that really be the reason you didn’t understand or seem to notice? Did you think he was…just being nice? Courting people is harder than he expected.
* So what do they devise? Bolder attempts! And N isn’t really sure how to but he practically becomes a literal malewife: Cooking for you, supporting you in your hobbies or battles, helping you with chores or your Pokemon. And STILL you struggled to get why he was suddenly so dedicated. Like you can see he’s acting differently but you didn’t know why. And this guy is now worried he’s made you uncomfortable by being too “persistent”.
* You can practically hear his Pokemon facepalm their own faces. So…His Zoroark straight up shoved (gently) N right at you. You both collided and thankfully he caught you before you could fall to the ground. And for once, you look up at him, blushing at the proximity and well being held by someone as pretty as N. And for the first time in awhile, he had the brightest smile seeing you blush like that. The reality finally hit you like a brick- that man was holding you like you were the world to him.
* After a proper discussion and a thousand apologies on your end, he simply smiles and asks properly to date you.
* And of course, how could you say no to him now?
Mini story time:
N couldn’t help but chuckle softly seeing you rushed and flustered, apologizing when you FINALLY saw through his intentions. He wasn’t mad or upset, never at you. He felt frustrated at first but now, he feels like he’s won the lottery. He listens to your every word, letting you finish before gently taking your hand into his. Holding onto it like he was afraid of dropping something so precious.
“I…would like to apologize too, (Y/n). I haven’t been completely open with you myself. I…was afraid of making you uncomfortable with my advances. I must admit…relationships are much more complex than friendships with pokemon,” He chuckles though, feeling a bit embarrassed from his own ignorance but much more relaxed feeling your hand in his, “So…I’ll stop avoiding the true feelings I have for you. (Y/n)…I wish to date you. Romantically. I understand if you might not want that with me but I can ensure my feelings are true and I…would be very happy if you felt the same as well.”
You looked at him, finally seeing him like it was the first time ever. And he was pouring his heart out to you. You didn’t think he truly saw you as more than a friend. And this revelation was probably the best thing you’ve heard all day. He gets nervous when you take a hot minute to process everything before giving him a smile that made his heart racing.
“Um…yes??? Of course I’d date you! I know you said it’s ok but shit I am SO sorry for not noticing sooner! Sweet arceus everything makes SO much more sense now…and you did it all for me…” You can’t help but laugh, “I promise to repay it back ok? Hugs, kisses, whatever you want! And…maybe we should be more upfront about this stuff.”
He laughs before pulling you into a big hug, “I think I can agree to those terms…if it means having you in my life. As my lover. Or um…girlfriend. I’ll have to get used to the term.”
