Okay I need to know if anyone remembers the name of an old dental tool from the late 1990s.
I can't find what it was but no one I know had this injector used on them, but I remember that horrible thing as it was what started my fear of dentists.
The dentist I went to as a child didn't use a typical needle. It looked like a syringe but instead of a needle it looked like thin needle nose pliers with sharp teeth. It would pinch the gums or cheek or whatever and make this awful clicking sound followed but what felt like bee stings. Instead of one or two injections, it was a dozen little clicks bites that hurt like fuck.
My dentist tried to prove to me it "wasn't painful" and I was "overreacting to the sound" by showing me the "needle" in action on the edge of a paper cup. It shredded the paper cup as the medicine dripped into and out of the holes it made.
That thing was traumatic as all hell and I'm a little glad to know it seems to have been erased from existence but now I think I'm crazy because I know that monstrosity was real.
