born and raised in denton, most of her past was pleasantly uneventful.
she grew up in a loving household, with parents who loved her just as much as they loved each other. and although money had sometimes been tighter than any of them would’ve liked, and her parent’s jobs were often demanding or stressful because of that, they never lost that sense of family as they navigated it all together nor did her parents ever allow it to alter their disposition.
despite how much her parents try to shyly brush her off each time she tries to tell anyone this; she thinks growing up like that, in an environment where love was such a wonderful focus and where it seemed impossible to not believe in the power of it, turned her into the hopeless romantic that she is today - and inspired most of the stories that she now wants to tell.
but whenever she turned eighteen, she ended up deciding to leave that environment for the first time in her life as she was offered ( and accepted ) a scholarship to duke university that would allow her to obtain the english degree she’d always wanted - but would also require her to live at the dorms, hours away from where she called home.
being on her own for the first time without the comfort of the places or the people she’d always known had been, at times, overwhelming. but, after five years of balancing college and various part-time jobs to give her the experience she needed, she finally graduated with a bachelor’s degree in english.
she didn’t hesitate to immediately move back to denton once she graduated, having missed the comfort of her hometown desperately while she’d been away. however, a few things did change once she got back in town; she got her own studio apartment in the historic district instead of moving back in with her parents and she also quickly found a job as a barista at bb books and brews to help pay her bills while she began working on her first book.
after working on it for two years and submitting it to multiple literary agents and editors, she finally got a call back and was able to have it published earlier this year. it was more successful than she could’ve ever anticipated and it has attracted an unexpected amount of attention toward her along with it’s release as well.
she’s starting to feel the pressure of all that new attention ( and criticism ) but her new literary agents has helped to manage a lot of it and she’s still happier than she could’ve ever imagined. she only hopes she won’t choke under the pressure and lose it all with the second book she’s ( not ) begun writing.

-Jamie Nieves, the youngest of 9 boys, and by far the most ignored out of the entire family. The Nieves’ were a family of affluence, coming from old money and having a good foundation built int he world. His father the owner of a fortune 500 company and his mom was just a well known socialite, popular for putting her brand on whatever offers came her way.
-The man in the family wanted nothing more than for his sons to take over the company some day, each managing a different branch for him. He was a man’s man, and he wanted every single one of his sons to be carbon copies of himself, Jamie was never like that. From a young age he was always the softest, soft spoken, preferring to be indoors instead of roughhousing, this led for the man to be very strict on Jamie, forcing him into many sport and things he never truly enjoyed.
-His grandmother had been his only solace, and maybe it was the because she knew he was different. Always nurturing and caring for him, letting him just be a kid and embrace everything that made him different. This bond would grow over the years, Jamie seeing his grandmother as the most important person his life, even being the first person he came out to, before the rest of his family.
-What he didn’t know was that she was the only barrier protecting him from the tyrant that was his father, so when the woman passed from natural causes, the man took action against his own youngest son. Being gay wasn’t right in his eyes, and sent Jamie to conversion therapy, where he stayed in a facility until he was fixed in his eyes.
-Jamie took this chance to internalize everything, having hired a P.I beforehand to gather everything he possibly could that would look incriminating, and could possibly give him leverage over his family. Even going as far as hacking the company from the inside to find insurmountable evidence to strike back, even going so far as to have the facility shut down for good.
-Once he had enough, he pulled the fast one on his dad, making the man beg his son for mercy, which Jamie never showed. He held all of the companies assets in the palms of his hands, and entered a legal battle with his family which he ultimately won after months of piling up evidence against them. Now he holds the family fortune all to himself, paid his way into a good college, finished with top marks, and in his grandmother’s will it was also stated that she had left him all f her money to him alone.

rather than going by their birth name, eden is the name they picked out for themselves when they discovered it was possible to exist outside of the restrictive confines of the gender binary. they have yet to start the process of getting it legally changed due to lack of parental support, but their professors so far have proven to be quite understanding and respectful of their preference - one of their favorite aspects of college so far.
they took a gap year after high school and took off from their small town to a city the day they turned 18, where they lived in an abandoned tenement with fellow runaways and made their money giving out tarot readings and fortune telling on the street. they never really planned on anything more than escaping their less than ideal family, but eventually a case worker who was determined to get these kids off the streets convinced them to at least look into scholarships, financial aid, etc. especially since they’d always excelled in school and their grades and test scores were more than enough to get them somewhere.
