he had been running late a few times this week, he needed to get his act together, he had a habit of slacking lately. his phone was off and currently back in his room. so he stopped the nearest person to him. “hey! hey excuse me, you got the time? think i’m running more than just a little bit late.” he said. “really need to see whether i should ditch the rest of the hour or not.” said.
kaori blinked in surprise when she heard someone call out to her. she smiled and turned around to face him, flashing a warm, welcoming smile. “it’s about fifteen minutes past noon, why?” she asked. when he suggested that he ditch the rest of his class, she immediately shook her head. “no, no, don’t do that,” she urged, lips protruding into a pout. “i think you should still try to go to class. it’s better than to miss some of the class than all of it. at least, you’ll learn something, right?”
Somewhere between Shakespearean sonnets and the beginnings of a discussion about iambic pentameter, Ashwin’s mind began to grow fuzzy. He was half paying attention to the content of their assignment syllabus, and stopped typing on his laptop altogether. He’d gotten very little sleep the previous night, and before he knew it, he was nodding off during group study with Kaori at the library, who now risked having a very sleepy boy flopping over from his seat in her direction as he slowwwwly started to lean to the side.

kaori was typing away at her laptop, trying to revise and proofread her notes from the previous lecture. occasionally, every once in a while, she would look over and glance at ashwin to make sure he was still paying attention. then, she noticed him dozing off in a way that could seriously hurt him. she squeaked in surprise and leaned forward, placing her hand gently on ashwin’s shoulder. “hey, um, ashwin?” she asked gently, making sure he was awake. a worried look formed on her features. “ash, are you asleep?” she tried again. she immediately thought the worst and wondered if he was sleep deprived. “how much sleep did you get last night?”
ayumi wasn’t at all surprised that kaori had thrown herself into her arms. she expected it even. she was so used to her affectionate ways, even if sometimes it could be a little much. it wasn’t kaori’s fault. ayumi was always weird when it came to expressing the softer side of herself and if anyone was to bring it out of her, it was kaori. once she had pulled away, she closed the door behind them and leaned against her desk, her eyes never leaving the other girl. she moved like a fairy and ayumi would be lying if she said she didn’t find it adorable as hell. a smirked tugged at her own lips after being called out for her actions during their last movie night and she gave kaori a shrug. “you weren’t complaining then.” she replied then moved over to join kaori on her bed. “the notebook? that sad ass movie?” a sigh fell from her lips as she reached for her laptop to pull the movie up for them. “whatever princess wants, princess gets i guess.” she teased before placing it back down and shifting to make herself a little more comfortable, settling into kaori’s side.
“you were distracting me though. how was i supposed to complain when i couldn’t pay attention to what was going on?” kaori whined in reply, lip protruding into a pout. she crossed her legs and tilted her head to the side when ayumi called the movie sad. “well, yes, but it’s a story of true love. their love defied the odds of everything... and that’s just amazing.” she sighed dreamily and rested her head on ayumi’s shoulder when her friend nestled into her side. “i don’t want to be in love unless it’s a love where we both defy all odds to be with each other.” she shifted her head briefly to look up at ayumi. “but you don’t care about me talking about my ideal romance.” she giggled and shook her head, knowing how some topics that she brought up to ayumi were kind of sensitive: romance included. without another word, she pressed play and relaxed into ayumi’s side.
although her schedule was usually packed ayumi always found time to spend with kaori. since reuniting a few years ago she always wanted to be around her, even if they were doing nothing at all. there was something so comforting about being in her presence and ayumi couldn’t quite explain it nor did she want to express it. she just figured constantly reaching out to kaori and her always running to her whenever the other girl called was enough. tonight was their regular movie night. ayumi never made plans during those nights because they were specifically for kaori and she was beyond excited to see her again since their last time together. with her laptop open and netflix pulled up on the screen, she looked over herself in her full length mirror, deciding that the grey joggers and pink hoodie was good enough for their evening in. she ruffled her hair then tied it up into a high ponytail before flopping down on her bed, hearing a knock at her door moments later. she wasted no time answering it and a smile immediately tugged at her lips as soon as she laid eyes on kaori. “took you long enough. have you picked out a movie yet so we don’t spend over an hour searching for one like last time?” @ebullicnts
ayumi was without a doubt the most important person in kaori’s life. they had so much history together; growing up together then growing apart, then reuniting again in college. she would do anything for her, and she literally meant anything. their movie nights together were so special because kaori loved being close to her. she could spend hours and hours looking and smiling at the girl and feel like no time had passed. she approached ayumi’s door, tucking loose strands of her hair behind her ear. she knocked eagerly and stood on her toes to try and put her face in front of the peephole. “ayumi!” she chirped. she squealed with glee when ayumi opened the door, throwing herself into her arms without a second thought. “oh, i missed you so much! it feels like forever since we last saw each other,” she whined, squeezing the girl gently. kaori knew her touchiness could get too intense sometimes as ayumi sometimes brushed off her affection, so she took a step back before she got brutally rejected. “the only reason we spent an hour looking for a movie last time was because you couldn’t keep your hands to yourself.” she smirked and twirled on her heels before practically skipping over to ayumi’s bed. “by the way, we’re watching the notebook.”

to describe her simply? she’s a very sweet girl with a optimistic view of the world. she sees the good in everyone. kindness and loyalty are the most important values to her. she rarely gets upset, but when she does, you’d wish you never crossed paths with her.
because of her kindness, she can easily be taken advantage of. she trusts everyone she meets, which is very unwise on her end.
she grew up in a small town with parents who were extremely overprotective of her. some of that behavior still rubs off on her today as she’s often cautious to try new things, but she’s slowly growing out of that protective shell and letting herself loose.
a brilliant writer. she’s won many poetry and fiction contests. she’s currently working on a novel right now. the status of that? it’s not going very well. lately she’s lost muse, but she’s looking for things in life to inspire her again.
the type of friend that will take care of you when you’re sad. she bakes cookies, writes you cute notes, gives you gift baskets and warm hugs. she is the person to go to when you’re feeling down.
she puts others before herself, and that’s arguably another flaw of hers. she would walk through hell and back rather than take care of her own needs.
