Best Hip-hop Night Clubs and Bars in Denver
Best Hip-hop Night Clubs and Bars in Denver
The best hip-hop night clubs are not just about having a great DJ who could spin the beats out of our shoes. It is also about the place itself; the vibe it is giving off through its design and décor. And while it is about dancing, it is also about what the club offers to guests off the dance floor.
With that in mind, here’s a list of some of the best hip-hop night clubs in Denver.

Land-Locked Denver Gets a Yacht Club
Land-Locked Denver Gets a #YachtClub @thesourcedenver #restaurantnews
By Bev Rahj:
We love The Source, that wonderful, cooperative place on Brighton Boulevard. Now, it’s bringing on a new addition to an old spot. The space occupied by the CapRock Farm Bar, right in the middle open space at The Source will become the Yacht Club, on August 20, “a community bar inspired by the casual drinking and social cultures from around the world,” according to their press release.

So Artsy, Esoteric and Fashionable Saturdays: Williams & Graham
Denver lacks taste. For the most part. This is a blanket statement that does not apply everywhere. When we decided to spend three years out here, our thought was, "you can do anything for three years." Within days, we were a little astonished that there was such a lack of style and that the top restaurants were not, um so impressive. They reminded me of something you would find in the South Bay of San Francisco. Mediocre.
As we settled into our little LoHi 'hood, we made some discoveries that proves this hypothesis to be untrue. Root Down is a restaurant we all heard about. It's missing the chic NYC touch, but it works well. Shortly after we discovered it, Chef/Owner Justin Cucci opened up the all so epic Linger. Linger is a special joint. It's situated in the former Olinger Mortuary and the name "Linger" lingers on. You have that slightly creepy and slightly warm feeling that truly captures a swankness that Denver has been missing. It's quite a scene and quite popular. That's when we turn to the most authentic French restaurant in Denver, located blocks away from Linger, Z Cuisine. The menu changes every night as each dish is made with the freshest and verylocal ingredients. Next door at their A Cote, you get the feeling that you're in an actual French bistrot as patrons sip Absinthe and laugh over cards, newspaper articles and discuss what movie is playing on their wall.
After these discoveries, we started to wonder what else could complete the LoHi neighborhood (besides an awesome grocery store and a lunch spot). As we worked in the newly erected Laughing Latte (there were no coffee shops in the neighborhood before their Spring, 2011 arrival), we noticed a group of busy people with blue prints, dusty laptops, notebooks, pencils, accompanied with blood, sweat and tears. This group were task-masters. Nothing could distract them, except a friendly "hello, how's your day going?" I thought they were architects. It turns out they were converting the lonely building across the street into a new joint. "It's cursed," said long-time resident and owner of Dickenson Plaza, Henry Dickenson, followed up by, "Who wants a speakeasy?" The uninviting building remained empty looking for months as the crew had many hoops to jump through. Finally, one day owner Todd Colehour invited me to be a part of their liquor hearing. I was so thrilled to see people working so hard with so much heart and couldn't wait to help out. It took several more months and in the middle of Fall, 2012, the Williams and Graham "booksellers" opened their doors.
Enter into their bookstore that's ever-so-empty. If you ask, "is this a bookstore?" you will get a "yes" as a reply. Messages are passed between a secret door. Walk in and you are greeted by a friendly and professional staff. It's dark, intimate and sometimes it gets loud. The bartenders second to none. Courtney was my favorite tender from day one. She is so precise. Your drinks are not they typical candy-tasting drinks. They are era-based, and so strong, one cocktail is likely to do the trick. The drinks were created from the imagination and knowledge of Sean Kenyon, and the seasonal menu is concocted by David Z. Bumgardner. Simply said, both know what they are doing.
With all the skeptics around, Williams and Graham has quickly shot up to the top. This month, they are on the cover of 5280 Magazine, Denver's most well-known and premier magazine...on par with New York Mag, except for Denver. Oh, and Courtney is on the cover.
