Groundwork of the Metaphysics of Morals by Immanuel Kant
Second Section: Transition from Popular Moral Philosophy to the Metaphysics of Morals (Highlights, Part II)
“A human being and generally every rational being exists as an end in itself, not merely as a means for the discretionary use for this or that will, but must in all its actions, whether directed towards itself or also to other rational beings, always be considered at the same time as an end.”
“Act that you use humanity, in your own person as well as in the person of any other, always at the same time as an end, never merely as a means.”
“All rational beings stand under the law that each of them is to treat itself and all others never merely as a means, but always at the same time as an end in itself.”
“The subject of ends, i.e. the rational being itself, must be made the foundation of all maxims of actions, never merely as a means, but as the supreme limiting condition in the use of all means, i.e. always at the same time as an end.”
Been seeing a lot of hopecore esque posts from moots etc about how people are inherently good and well meaning, that anyone acting harmful is just under a lot of stress and ultimately means well, and normally I'd ignore this sort of idealism because hope is usually good but we are now encroaching on reckless territory.
Hi. I study people. Their brains and behaviors, and rationality and decision making, specifically. I need you to understand that there are people that are evil on purpose. They are evil on purpose. They are evil on purpose. Do not White Woman Adopts Rabid Animal this. Do not This Isn't Youuu this. People are evil on purpose.
I know you are reasoning these beliefs out of the goodness of your heart. I need you to understand that you cannot be projecting that goodness onto everyone. I know it is tempting to believe that all perpetrators of harm simply need someone to act like they are loved already towards them. This is true of some people, yes. Especially children, and people on the street, and people who in fact have not been given a chance. If you can do so reasonably, I will be cheering for you. And of course, systemically, we should always try. I am not talking about everyone Mean in the world as inherently evil, but a lot of these posts are explicitly talking about everyone in the world as inherently good.
There. Are. People. That. Know. Better. And. Choose. Gratuitous. Harm. Because. They. Have. Fundamentally. Different. Nihilistic. Outlooks. On. The. World. Than. You.
I can explain in depth their outlooks but, and I do not wish to seem edgy I am being so for real right now, it would be a cognitohazard.
It's not good news! I take no pleasure in talking about it! I wish it weren't true! But it is.
Y'all are stressing me out.

Abortion from a Deontological Perspective
Abortion from a Deontological Perspective Introduction Recently, there has been an increase in debates on the issue of abortion. The debates revolve around the morality, health, and religious foundations of abortions.
