This is the second time I have reviewed their fish fry! Stunning that they are never included in the “go to” fish fry places in Lancaster/Depew. COVID has hit the owners hard and they have closed their other restaurant, Pages, and transitioned all their efforts into the Cove. I arrived at 5:45pm and there was no wait for a table! No wait? How is this possible?! The bar had a good crowd, but there were tables available in the restaurant. Loved the vibe, and the fish tank. I wouldn’t have minded waiting at the bar if our table was not ready. Plenty of space to spread out AND a really great selection of specialty cocktails and beer. I ordered the beer battered fish which was skinless cod. Served incredibly hot with a perfect golden brown crisp crust. A perfect 10 in my book. Rye bread was super fresh and the fries were standard but very crisp and nicely seasoned. (9) Now let’s get to what sets them apart from the others. Their holy trinity was innovative and unique. No bland bucket salads here! No sir! Home made sides that give a new take on the traditional. First up, a red potato salad with red peppers which was delicious but a little heavy on the paprika. (8) Second, a tuna mac salad made with dilatini pasta. (8) Last, my personal favorite, the coleslaw had a sweet vinaigrette kind of dressing with cabbage and a hint of kale. Refreshing and light. Truly unique. (9) The tartar, also homemade, was extra thick and creamy with a great level of pickle. A real plus! (10) Our server, Maureen, was super sweet and made our night pleasant. Kitchen was running slow but nothing long enough to make me frustrated. Parking out front is good. They are more known for their live music on the weekends but after today I’m hoping they will also get hype from their fish fry. If you’ve been there to see the Nerds Gone Wild or Hit and Run, stop back on a Friday to get the beer battered perfection they are serving. You won’t regret it! Overall review 9.0!

They offer their “famous fish fry” 7 days a week year round! On Fridays in lent they have a quick serve table set up to get people their fish that did not pre order. I preordered by phone to avoid waiting in line. They told me it would be ready in 30 minutes. They get kudos for a really great cardboard container made just for their take out fish fry! Beer battered skinless haddock. Frozen fish? I think it was. Very dense and on the dry side. They gave you 2 medium pieces. (6) Fries were just like those you get at the Golden Arches. Thin and crisp though which I liked. (8). Coleslaw was very good, the typical tri colored lot that you would expect. (7) Tartar was Ken’s pre packaged. Bread was a white knot roll. Very flaky and plain but good. Overall I give it a 6.5. This picky gal is looking for more side options, home made Tartar and a fresh piece of fish before it is battered. Price is $9.99 but there was $1 off with your bonus card. Also they offer buy 6 get one free during lent. Not an awesome fish fry, but not bad either.

Only available on Fridays in lent for $13. I ordered using their meals 2 Go Ap. So Easy! Allow 20 minutes before pick up. Pull into a designated parking space and text the number on the parking space sign. They bring your order out to you. The perfect choice for social distancing. I am a Rochester girl originally, so I have grown up loving all things Wegmans! I have often asked myself, does Wegmans make anything that isn’t good? Tonight I tested their fish fry. Beer battered haddock was very dense and on the dry side. Was it frozen? Not sure, I think so... (6) Please switch to fresh! Comes with skin on standard fries. Pretty crispy for take out. (7) Cole slaw was Wegmans own. A chunky short cut cabbage with a good amount of zip (8). Came with 2 small containers of Ken’s tartar sauce. If you are going to use a mass produced Tartar, this is the one to choose. But c’mon Weggies! Please make your own! No mac salad, no potato salad. Gosh that made me sad. Bread was just a standard potato roll... Now let me give them some positive feedback. Container was great! Made from recycled products. Just get the cold stuff out of there and in their own container. Overall I give the Wegmans fish fry a 6.5. Not worthy of the $13 price tag.

Drive thru fish fry every Friday in lent from 3-7pm. I arrived at 3:45. It was about a 15 minute wait to get fish at that time. I have heard that the wait can get much longer at peak times. Everyone was super friendly from the guy directing cars to the girl collecting money and the ladies delivering your dinners. No need to pre order! Just join the line! Cost is $11 and they appreciate it if you have exact change. Usually I wait until the end of the review to give my overall rating... but this one is a take out 10! It was packaged perfectly, all cold items separate from the hot fish and fries. Keeping things crispy for the ride home. An absolute must in the take out world. Also included was a nice slice of rye bread and butter. Fish was a beer battered skinless cod. Very flavorful and light, crisp and not greasy! (10)Tartar was tasty with a heavy pickle finish. French fries were standard batter. Yet sometimes a simple fry is all that you need. Not unique or special but a perfect crispy side kick to their perfect fish. (10) Let’s talk sides! I preach about it all year long... you have to have the holy trinity to make me happy. They. Nailed. It. A small serving of each. And each one was obviously homemade. Mac Salad was elbow mac with celery, onion, and a hint of egg.(10) Potato salad was fantastic, potatoes were on point with a slight onion back end. (10) Cole slaw was also great with a tangy sauce, just the right amount too, I might add. This is the only place that could use slight improvement. It’s taste was fantastic but it needs some color. Maybe an addition of some carrots or purple cabbage on the next go round? I still give it a 9. There may be a wait, but it’s worth it! With the $11 price tag it quite possibly might be the best drive thru option around. Haven’t been? Get in your car and join the line! We know they throw a heck of a party for Dyngus Day, now you can add fish fry masters to their claim to fame. This gal is IMPRESSED!

I gave Jades one of the best reviews ever when I was here 4 years ago. Ownership has changed since then and so has the review. I was greeted promptly as I entered. Super friendly and welcoming. There was no wait for our party of 8 at 5pm on Ash Wednesday. Our server Diane was very attentive and kind. Our drinks were never empty and she was always ahead of our needs. Kudos to a great staff. They started us off with a great basket of fresh rye bread. The fish was beer battered skinless cod. Done perfectly and brought to us super HOT. It is actually 2 pieces of fish instead of one large piece. Very well done. (9) Also available in a half order. Fries were in their own separate mini basket which was a nice touch. Skin on fresh cut fries that were quite soggy and lack luster (5). Sides were all homemade. Mac salad was ok with a pickle tasting finish (6). American potato salad was just ok as well. Nothing special (6). Coleslaw was good but a little watery for my liking but the best of all the sides (8). German potato salad had a funny after taste that made me not a fan. (5) Tartar was on the table. Straight up standard with no dill involved. Parking is VERY limited and difficult. Inside is small but there is a nice area off the bar for your table wait. No reservations but they do quite a bit of take out. The fish itself is fantastic but the sides bring the review down. Overall score a 7.5. A far cry from their last review in 2016...
