The debate against theology & all of it's absurdities has been around forever, but we're equipped with the ability to challenge it without persecution nowadays. However, when it comes to challenging TRA & The Cult Of Woke, I'm increasingly worried about the day when this platform starts deleting users like us, who openly rebuke and push against the affirmation pipeline, who acknowledge biology, and refuse to entertain the delusions. What's your prediction for the future of tumblr in that regard?
It's honestly hard to say. Tumblr is where many of the ideas that were incubated in the academy percolated out into the public sphere and became user-friendly and influential. Detransitioner Helena Kerschner, for example, cites social influence through Tumblr as a contributing factor for the path she took. She's far from the only one.
But I haven't seen any response by Tumblr in terms of the current rising pushback either. So it's hard to tell if this is because the platform is legitimately indifferent, which enabled this mess in the first place, and they don't care to get involved in virtue censorship *cough*Twitter*cough*... or it just hasn't happened yet.
It may be that the platform that was the woke epicenter is the platform most tolerant to rejecting it. Putting woke-resistant blogs aside, there's a some pretty diverse blogs and posts out there, from a variety of different political and social positions, on a large range of topics, many of them having been around for a while. Hell, there's still "lifter" and "ana" blogs - remember them? When you hit the "ana" tags, you get an overlay asking if you're okay, but that's about it.
Despite having well and truly earned the nickname "Hellsite," that may turn out to be both its curse and its blessing, given other platforms behaving so illiberally and inconsistently.
So far I've only had two types of problems: copyright, most of which were spurious and fraudulent and which Tumblr actually fixed, and "explicit", which was just the result of some of the BlasphemousArt pieces.
It's honestly hard to predict. I hope/suspect that it might just stay completely neutral, but that might also depend on its future ownership. If it's bought out by a group with a particular ideological bent, the sands may shift.
As such, I haven't really made any alternate plans myself, and if it ever comes down to it, I might just end up calling it a day.
It is weird though, to think that after pissing off Xians, offending Muslims, mocking people who are "spiritual not religious," arguing scripture, raging about the right to criticize all ideas, the most likely cause of being terminated right now seems to be the raging controversy over how babies are made, and what exactly is a "woman" or a "man."
