Unexpected Christmas || Self
Christmas morning came much faster than Elsa had expected or particularly wanted. Much of her morning was spent in bed staring up at the ceiling as she tried to tell herself that there had to be a good enough reason to get out of bed. She had papers to write and new drafts of prefect guidelines to make. When she finally worked up the energy to force herself up, she noticed she was not entirely alone in her room. On her bedside table as a medium, brown owl, looking at her rather intensely. Confused beyond belief, she saw that she had left the window open from the night before. Her eyes continued to scan the room and she found, near the ice tree she had made, a medium sized parcel.
Elsa rose from the bed and walked across the room to examine it. In familiar handwriting was written "To: Elsa Love, Anna". Her heart sank into the pit of her stomach at the very idea that Anna had sent her a present. Before she could begin opening it, the owl from her nightstand flew over and pecked at her hand gently. When it realized it had her complete attention, it stuck it's leg out. Elsa rolled her eyes back could not help chuckling at the tip-demanding owl. After a minute, she retrieved her wallet and gave it a few coins to appease it. Once paid, it flew back out the window and Elsa was free to go back to the present.
Shakily, Elsa began to unwrap the gift. She feared it would be something of greater value than the necklace she had sent. What if it was? Then she would have to get Anna something else as well and that necklace had been so much of a chance find that she feared she wouldn't be able to find anything else. She pulled the ribbon off the top of the parcel and the paper fell away to reveal several chocolates and three books. Elsa bit her lip and began to examine the contents. Yes, Anna had again tried hard with Elsa's gift. With a sad smile, Elsa pulled the books up to her chest and hugged them. The tears that followed only seemed natural.
