This chicken broth that you make at home is full of flavor and great for giving soups, stews, and sauces more depth. You will never want store-bought broth again after you try this!
Ingredients: 1 whole chicken. 2 onions, quartered. 3 carrots, chopped. 3 celery stalks, chopped. 4 garlic cloves, smashed. 2 bay leaves. 1 teaspoon whole peppercorns. 10 cups water.
Instructions: Put the chicken in a large stockpot after washing it under cold water. Fill the pot with water and add the garlic, bay leaves, peppercorns, onions, carrots, and celery. Over medium-high heat, bring the mixture to a boil. Then, turn down the heat to low and let it simmer for two to three hours. During that time, skim off any foam that forms on top. With a slotted spoon, take out the chicken and vegetables once the broth is done. Then, strain the broth through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth. Let the broth cool down before putting it in containers to store in the fridge or freezer.
