A 9-part vocal harmony sung by der Hagopian in 9 tracks on ProTools. Recorded by Noah Chevalier, produced by der Hagopian, with no Post-Production. In homage to George Franz's "Dim Da Da" the first commercially available song written from the drums up, according to Ahmir Thompson aka "QuestLove" of the Roots. Also layered into the 9part harmony is a shout-out to Fela Kuti, of African fame who synthesized the World Jazz rhythms of his day with the music if his home country. Finally, a shout-out to J Dilla, producer and musician extraordinaire who helped acts like Common, the Roots, Erykah Badu, and the Soulquarians become main-stream American acts. Listen, comment, enjoy, hate, I hope to hear from you Tumblr friends in anyway you wish to reach out. Have a great Friday!

When we Met
by der Hagopian (Notes) on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 4:54am
for Charlotte.
When we met your eyes spoke, 'Take me, take me down your path, take me, take me.'
When we met the first words I said to you were, 'Will you marry me?' and you said, without blinking, 'Yes.'
When we met we were in the basement of some gone house somewhere in a gone night in March, gone for gone's good yawning.
When we met my heart screamed thousands of purple pointed yellows and creams, a million dreams just to have you close to me, hug and hold me.
When we met you took me immediately, without hesitation, you devoured my soul whole and I was hopeless but to feel your caress again, to shoot back up everything you had to supply.
When we met there was no God in Heaven, Lucifer came screaming up from the bowels of beautiful, fiery inferno & took our souls incarnate, played a lovely game with our physical forms and laughed at the pain she was about to unleash, misery & unrealized Hope that would be dashed upon her curb, stomped for a price to pay, a moment to fill the void.
When we met I wrote a song about your game, game, game, how the pain is never the same, same same. You see, I knew I was caught, my mind bought, soul carelessly fraught, I fell into your fear & knew I'd pay at least one painful tear.
You see, all the world is here for all the world to see. We took photographs and made silent pacts between pillows the world should never hope to understand, but really, we fooled ourselves. The elaborate myth we create, the history we write for ourselves nothing but a sad lie, caressing our egos, those pathetic gods packed with hubris and lame legs, pained ankles and pathetic heels.
I wrote you poem after poem after poem, but it never felt like Home. You see, 'home we'll never be...' & as I write this in bed now, remembering your eyes and feeling that ever so horrendous, wild, undeniable pain in my chest, I beg for more. I beg for your memory, for more pain, for that is all I have left now, and I will hold onto it until I leave this town, and leave your memory, just another slide in the pinwheeling, reeling, dirty-dealing kaleidoscope that is the tale of my love, reconstructed and damned, deconstructed destitute. The tale of my life, pathetic myth, history for the hounds, for the bugle always sounds. (c) der Hagopian Records, 2013
"I love you."
by der Hagopian (Notes) on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at 7:52am
this is a love poem,
I wanted to write it to you a thousand years ago but our smile wasn't invented yet.
this is a love poem where I write to you, "I love you."
this is a love poem where I scream my forever for the neverending Beauty of your soul running thru the electricity of my fingertips as deep inside you I feel the magnetic pull of a millions years of existence telling me to find you deeper, find you sweeter.
this is the poem I'm writing for you now because now you're mine & I'm yours & I'm writing of love, love, love; love, love, love; love is the word.
well I'm thinking of your eyes, how your lips part milimeters as you smile into my soul & every part of me wants to touch the unbelievable soft-red of your deep-yes without the least bit audible inhalation I believe I might be falling again into your forever & I hope to never be shot back up again.
sing me sweet fairytales of redgreenblue sails pointed towards eternity with your fingterips burning me, another distraction to make the day shorter, how I'd work. welter, swelter under the impression of your regression, moans of makebelieve fairywonder, ever dressup in that red-dress you promised me one more dance before the world ends & I'd
this is the poem I'm writing to you now because forever is such a short time & if I don't scream my fingertips across these keys I might explode in knowing that you're mine, that the world is ours, that we create this reality & I'm betting on red for the rest of my life because sometimes it's better unsaid.
sometimes it's better with your fingers caressing every inch of my arm, you tantalize & mesmerize as I drift off into nowhere, speaking unnecessary syllables as if my mind were willable as if I could exert some small amount of change in this world, as the Moon speaks of the universal energy, unchanging, I clasp your fingertips in mine, hugging your body closer & closer, harder & softer I want to
write you a poem that could incapsulate the wild-amazing-beautiful that is you, but you see, we only have these many hours to live in & in living we must be ready to die & my thoughts astir at the pregnant possibility of you forever, or never again.
I'm writing this poem to tell you I love. I seem to have lost the point, there in the period I
remember your smile & all is right in the world. the sun rise & in your eyes, no need for more writing, I want to sing you bedtime lullabies & rock you 'til the midnightmoon remind me to fall into that dark & the birds can wake us, make us new through the forever passing of time I will
say yes
you make me
say yes & I'm in love with the world thru the laugh of a girl who's here
the morning after who's passed her amazingyes to me
& I'm writing you this poem to whisper through screens encoded, & keys unloaded, 0's & 1's, websites & internet frights
I'm writing & writing, fighting & falling, fleeing, but seeing
You.
I'm writing this poem to tell you, "I love you."
