Hopping (Rogue Special) - Trick of the Week by Kamikaze Kitten (#9, London Roller Girls)
Hardcore parkour!
Maybe this will help me overcome my reserve. I really need to use these long legs for some apex jumps.

brat: I know a lot of people who play rugby and derby and they say it’s good for getting stronger but doesn’t particularly help with derby skills
My Freshmeat Rules
Being a freshie for Tiger Bay Brawlers, I have some rules/tips I remind myself of all the time.
Derby is hard, be prepared to work to your limits and beyond.
Never measure your progress against someone else.
Always encourage your fellow freshies. Compliment them when they do something well, sympathise with them when they're having trouble. It means alot to get support from your peers and makes you feel like you're doing well.
Falling over is not a bad thing. It happens. Get back up.
Push yourself, when you think you can't do anymore, do more. Even if you're gritting your teeth, sweating buckets and are close to tears with the effort, do one more lap, do one more drill. You'll be glad you did it, rather than regret sitting out.
Don't be hard on yourself. If you don't get something straight away, just keep on practicing it.
Let yourself feel good when you get something down.
Don't be afraid to ask questions. Even if you think they're stupid. If your coaches/peers are worth their salt they won't mind helping you out and won't think any questions stupid.
So yes, those are the thinks running through my head at every training session.
