Omg I know right. I thought for sure something was going to come of that. They seemed to heavily imply something else went on other than a simple beating but nothing ever came of it and SJS was such a talented actor. He was truly wasted and his exit was so lame.
Definitely! They had started laying the groundwork for a historical sexual assault storyline with him and Derek, and there was that beating (which definitely felt like way more), and I'm still so mad that they decided to drop it (I am, however, quite glad they didn't go with Brian Kirkwood's other idea for a male SA storyline with Ben and Jay... 💀). SJS is genuinely brilliant, I wish they'd utilised him way more and hadn't killed him off like they did. He could've gone a few more years at least, or been one of those recurring villains that pops up to stir the pot (like Janine lol).
