Review: Junkyard Cyborg
Nicole
- You can tell that since returning to the show, Nicole has been incredibly determined. She is one of those contestants that when given a second change, she takes it and feels incredibly fortunate. The effort she put into the entirety of the piece was grand, and that’s what you like to see. She put great definition into the model’s face and the wiring and features that were added into the body actually looked as if they’d been embedded into the skin. In conclusion, her model looked absolutely amazing and as she said, it held a beautifully cocky manner.
Sarah
- From the start, you could tell that Sarah didn’t know much of what she was doing. She was struggling greatly and Glenn was incredibly disappointed in her work when walking through. The airbrushing looked nice but overall, I wasn’t impressed. The prosthetics didn’t really flow, for they looked like they’d just been placed on top of the surface of the body. I hate to say it.
Laura
- I found Laura’s second concept to be strangely interesting. The fact that one would get robot arms instead of tattoos . . . interesting. She was working well even when doubting herself, but when her model left, absolute panic overcame me. It wasn’t the model’s fault because we all have moments that we’re not feeling well, but I can tell that great deals of people were agitated with him. I think that if she was given more time, the energy backpack would have looked grand. Nonetheless, I did agree with what the judges were saying when they didn’t fully understand what the reason for some of the pieces were.
Roy
- I found Roy’s concept to be amazing – a government program that accidently makes the person into a zombie – AWESOME. The fact that he actually ripped back the top of the head and exposed the brain was fantastic. His method in which creating wrinkled flesh was amazing and I never would have thought of that. The outcome was just grand and he truly did look like he was a zombie. I agreed with everything that the judges said and bloody hell I just thought it was grand.
Derek
- While working, Derek seemed rather annoyed when anyone disturbed him. I thought that adding the face piece was fantastic and watching it light up reminded me of Iron Man (if only you all knew how I feel about that). Nonetheless, when I saw that his mold cracked, I panicked, feeling it would be a downfall. But still, he managed to make it work and have it look fantastic. I loved the power source that was on his chest and the creation looked like a wonderful robot that I could totally see in a movie. I was impressed.
My Views: Dishonorable Proportions
Rod
I was rather pleased that Rod listened to what Ve had said and I adored his piece. However, I did panic a bit when the model was unable to see through the face. That being said, Rod did accommodate and pulled it off beautifully. I loved the glass added to the face, and how he added such detail on the sculpture (the pores and wrinkles). I did like how he was able to pull it off beautifully and I was incredibly pleased that he was in the top two.
Roy
I was incredibly pleased with Roy’s foundation challenge, for the texture was amazing and he just did beautifully. That being said, I was upset that he underestimated himself at the start. I did enjoy that he pushed himself with his overall piece though and how he took on something that no one else had really done. I was fond of it’s outcome.
Alana
I felt that Alana’s piece did look rather similar to what she did with the white rabbit and that panicked me a bit. That being said, I was still fond of it and how she completed it.
Sarah
While everyone was speaking in the kitchen, you could see the panic across Sarah’s face. She was incredibly unsure of the hands and when I found out they were still wet, I ‘head desked’ a bit. The coloring of the head was a bit off and the near baldness of the head was a bit nerving.
Laura
I did rather like what Laura did with the headpiece, but when the judges started poking it, I became a bit worried. Still, I did rather like her costume piece and how it flowed with the overall structure.
Tommy
When Tommy helped Sarah, I knew that something could possibly bite him in the ass later, for that’s how life is – a pain in the ass. I was not a fan of the hair at all because he did look like an angry old Japanese Emperor (I do apologize that that sounded rather crude). I wasn’t pleased that the arms were duct taped together and the arms were just altogether rather strange. It looked how one’s skin would be if the circulation was cut off in a certain area. I do absolutely hate saying this, but I do believe that he was the correct choice to be eliminated.
Derek
It does rather upset me how you never truly see much of Derek because he does an amazing job. The tattoos were amazing and I loved what he did all in all. The face was amazing and in the words of Glenn, ‘I like the fact that the nose has biceps’. I loved how he added the cigar because it just added more to the concept. I greatly believe that he deserved winning.
Face Off "Alice in Zombieland" Challege
Liked the top three. Roy, Laura and Derek did killer work. My favorite was Alana's White Rabbit, though. I just appreciated the overall look.
Neck up I liked Tommy's, but the rest was pretty off.
Rod's Red Queen looked like she carrying around the corpse of Cleopatra Jones.
