Veritasium on how DuPont poisoned the planet
The 4 things it takes to be an expert (not just 10000 hours):
Repeated attempts with feedback
A valid environment
Timely feedback
Don’t get too comfortable
Nice!! This is an exceptionally clear explanation of how light warps around a black hole. The most amazing part to me is the fact that, if the black hole had a texture or pattern, you could see the entire surface all at once, an infinite number of times. Space is weird guys.
Veritasium Announcement
Although the announcement was kinda sad, the reason was so valid.
I know you're not leaving but I just wanted to say thank you, Derek, for "increasing critical thinking" in the world. Thank you for making the most interesting videos with reliable knowledge and basically just putting so much effort because the world is so ridiculously misinformed. You really succeeded and will continue to, of course, in your goal.
When you said you may not be appearing in future videos at all it was genuinely like a parent letting their children go. The best teacher ever. You've practically raised me- I've grown up watching your videos and the answer to "how do you even know that?" when i say a random fact is always "Veritasium" and i know that doesn't have to change because nothing's happening to the channel but it's scary to think of if Veritasium ever lost the spirit of what it is.
It never did- through the low-production-pure-knowledge-crazed-physicist videos from the beginning of veritasium to the talking-to-experts-high-production-great-art-high-effort videos now and probbaly in the future.
Even though the news made me bawl like a baby, it had such a solid reason, good luck in your life gang! it's crazy how much someone who doesnt even know i exist shaped my brain. Your videos made me fall in love science. Thank you.
Sincerely,
still the kid who watched the first of the two six degrees of separation videos (its now ten years old) and thought it was magic and fell more in love with math and the way the world works,
Myra
