I just wanted to post something that actually means a lot to me. Pretty Lights is has become one of my favorite artists, if not my absolute favorite, in a matter of a few years. His music has touched my heart and soul unlike any other music has. I fell into a depression in 2014 and, Derek's music has helped me see the light in life. When all I could do was lay in bed I started to find the true beauty in his music. I've known his music for years before this point in my life, but I didn't really hear the messages. His music taught me that he too has been at his lowest points in life, but never stopped him for continuing on. He made me believe that I too had a chance and that this sadness would one day fade. Although his music didn't "cure" my sadness, it was a start to a whole new perspective on life. I started changing my mindset to a much more positive one, taking one day at a time. A more positive mindset then lead me to a more positive lifestyle. I began cutting out any source of negativity without a care because I am living the only life I have and realized there's absolutely no reason to not be happy. I learned that I was the source of my own sadness and that my mind was actually the only thing to blame. It may be hard to grasp that you yourself are the reason for your own sadness because no one wants to be sad, you just sometimes let your mind trick you into believing things are worse than they actually are. Life is too precious and fragile to care about things that are just going to make you sad. So with that I started gaining a new attitude. Just because I had a "fuck it" attitude doesn't mean that I was that way with people who didn't deserve it. I started cherishing the people in my life that I truly love because I realized that they too could be going through hard times and sometimes all you need is love to get you through. I always heard people talk about music saving someone's life but never really realized what it meant till it happened to me. Derek Vincent Smith, also known as Pretty Lights, has saved my life so I thought I'd pass on the love and share his music for anyone that wants to take a listen. ❣️❣️❣️
