This weekend we went to ‘De Invasie van Antwerpen’ (#Diva16) at Kattendijkdok in Antwerp.
It’s an exposition of upcoming talented creatives (-furniture, illustration, fashion, interior, jewellery…-designers) who are ready to conquer the world, or let’s say Belgium to begin with. We saw some really nice designs and met some interesting people.
Almost 2,5 years ago we had the idea of designing and producing a furniture-line ourselves. At the same time a mutual friend introduced us to Ruben Deriemaeker, a very talented furniture designer, creator & maker.
After multiple brainstorms & meetings and after a lot of trial & errors… (not with Ruben!) We were very proud to see our very first object (the #Bam_nat coffeetable) at the venue! (//bamobjects.com if you want to know more!)
Afterwards we hit the road to start our roadtrip-holiday to Copenhagen! First stop; Hamburg! During our drive, we listened to the ‘Lost in the dream’ War on Drugs album and while the sun set and our daughter made 'merry cooing’ sounds I realised how happy i am with my life.
I posted a picture on Facebook and somebody replied 'At moments like these you realise that the little things matter in life’… And in the blink of an eye I thought, little things? Little things? These are the biggest things I can imagin!
Much bigger then I ever could have imagined. ❤️
Good Morning | Derie
The quiet chirp of her alarm woke her up like every other morning and Brie blindly reached her hand out to find her phone. She was a fairly light sleeper and kept the alarm at a low volume but, once she was up, even cute little bird chirps could get annoying. As she reached around, her hand hit an arm. Then a chest.
Opening her eyes, her face suddenly softened when she noticed that Derek was still asleep, sprawled out across the blanketed floor of her fort. She couldn't help the smile that spread on her face when she took in the scene. Sunlight from her window was streaming into her room but was filtered by the thin blanketed walls of the fort. His blonde hair was messy and sticking out in different directions and, despite his size, he looked so much younger in his sleep.
She didn't want to wake him but she didn't want to be late either. Leaning over she whispered into his ear lightly. "Morning sunshine," she said quietly, kissing him on the cheek. "Time to wake up, sleepy head." She leaned over him, waiting for him to open his eyes, her heart racing at the memories of their previous night.
...surprise! | Derie
Backpack in hand, Brie couldn't help the grin that spread across her face as she stepped out of her aunt's car and back onto St. Mary's campus. Her aunt, her miraculous amazingly wonderful aunt, had found a way for Brie to come back through a program posted for first-year students from difficult areas. Brie smirked--that would be the only time she would be grateful to come from her home town. Under the restrictions of the program, her first semester at St. Mary's would be a probationary period after which her permanent attendance would be determined.
In other words: she was back.
Her aunt's car was too small to move back all of her stuff so, for the night, all she had was a backpack and the promise that her sister would drive everything else up the next day. As soon as Aunt Michele turned off the car, Brie opened the door and sprinted towards the dormitories, taking a left toward the guys' rooms and letting herself run right to Derek's door. Heart pounding, she rapidly knocked on the door, barely able to contain her excitement.
