Mr. Bilous: It doesn’t eliminate a frustration that I have that this government deindexed AISH in 2019. You know, I can appreciate how cabinet and Executive Council works. My hope is that some of the members opposite, including the minister because of his background and his experience, would have spoken out against the former Premier saying: we’re going to deindex AISH. Now, I’m not privy to those caucus meetings, but it’s frustrating to hear that three years later the same group of people who were the government that deindexed AISH are now saying: yes, we’re behind this; it’s great. Well, where was that vigour, where was that persuasive standing up for the people on AISH three and a half years ago?

Alberta minister apologizes for calling B.C. government 'a bunch of shitheads'

Economic Development Minister Deron Bilous says he was frustrated over Trans Mountain pipeline delays

An Alberta cabinet minister has apologized for referring to members of B.C.'s NDP government as "a bunch of shitheads" at a meeting of municipal politicians in Edmonton on Wednesday.

Economic Development Minister Deron Bilous said the salty language was a result of his passion and frustration over tactics the B.C. government has used to delay the start of Kinder Morgan Inc.'s Trans Mountain pipeline expansion to the West Coast.

"In my frustration, I had a poor choice of words and for that I do apologize," Bilous said. "But we will continue to stand up for this pipeline, for this project. And this is in the national interest."

Mr. Feehan: I certainly appreciate the opportunity to speak to this bill because it gives me the opportunity to speak to an overall trend that I see with this government. In fact, I’m beginning to think that we should not refer to this government as the UCP but, rather, as the “Are there no workhouses?” government.

Mr. Bilous: I’ve heard that the government is currently considering right-to-work legislation. I know that we’ve had robust debates in this Chamber about right-to-work. I know that there are members on the other side of the House that are in favour of it. I can tell you that we’ve seen the damage that that’s done in several U.S. states, and I would urge members, actually, to take a look at, you know, some of the research that’s been done and the literature that exists on the damaging effects of right-to-work legislation. The title itself is such a misnomer. I absolutely hate the title. It’s more like right-to-put-workers-out-of-work legislation.

Mr. Bilous: At the moment we see that there’s been a $25 million investment. My question is: will that continue to be an incremental investment over years, or what is the time frame around the $175 million commitment?

Mr. Schweitzer: I mean, this is something, a word that may come up every now and again. You may hear somebody on our side use the term “socialist” every now and again to maybe describe somebody on the other side. But I’ve heard that on the other side they may even describe that member as the capitalist amongst the socialists over there. I don’t know if that’s a better burn than anything else. I don’t know if that’s helpful. He may want to clip this for social media. I’ve heard that he may be the capitalist on the other side.
