“The Lewis Institute (Delta Gamma's yearly Leadership Conference) was really cool because we had a huge group of women who were completely different yet shared the same exact values and I've really never met any people more welcoming than the people at the Institute. My favorite part about the entire experience was, on the first day, being put into small groups and creating timelines of life events that shaped us. They then asked us all to share with the entire group three events that were vital turning points in our lives. Some women struggled with eating disorders, absent parents, addiction and poverty, and it was just so striking to see that these strong women sitting here before me whom I thought were just typical sorority girls had overcome (and were still overcoming) major happenings in their lives while still helping run successful chapters around the nation. The first day was when our bonds grew stronger and then it only grew from there. Vulnerability is such an important part of leadership and relationships and I feel like that is oft forgotten, so it was wonderful to be reminded of that.” -Maggie Ming ‘17 (Top photo: center)
