Meet Delta Gamma’s Official Mascot- the Hannah Doll!
I was lucky enough to spend the spring of my junior year in South Africa studying at the University of Cape Town! While at UCT I took classes in anthropology, public health, sociology, and political science which offered amazing insight into the complex socio-political history of South Africa. Outside of class I got to explore one of the most gorgeous cities in the world—Cape Town sits at the foot of Table Mountain and Devil’s Peak and extends to the Atlantic Ocean. Going to the beach, hiking, eating at any of Cape Town’s incredible local markets, and visiting the Paarl and Constantia wine regions were nearly weekly outings. During my five months on the African continent I dove with great whites in Shark Alley, hiked to the top of Table Mountain and Lion’s Head (pictured here!), crawled through the Cango Caves, went camping in the Cederburg Mountains, ate bunny chow in Soweto, saw the majestic Big 5 in Kruger, visited Victoria Falls in Botswana, white water rafted down the Zambezi River, and walked from Zambia to Zimbabwe! And I met some amazing people along the way. Studying abroad in South Africa was hands down one of the best experiences of my life and I wouldn’t trade it for a thing! -Maggie Kuhl ‘16
We hang out, we help one another, we tell one another our worst fears and biggest secrets, and then just like real sisters, we listen and don’t judge.”
Adriana Trigiani
Studying in Copenhagen gave me the opportunity to get a taste of the international business environment and allowed me to explore Europe. I was able to develop a marketing strategy for Carlsberg brewing company and created an advertising campaign for a new Läkerol product's release in Denmark. Not only did I get hands on experience, but I also had the chance to travel to 11 countries and over 16 cities. It was a once in a lifetime experience and I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! -Tia Limbeck ‘16
I studied theater at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) in London during the Spring 2015 semester. During my time at RADA I took classes in stage combat, voice, singing, dance, movement, and clowning. I was a part of four productions while there, and I had an amazing time studying in such a wonderful city. I was lucky enough to travel to Dublin, Paris, Liverpool, Totnes, Edinburgh, and Saint Andrews while abroad. While my experience in Europe was amazing, I missed all my DG sisters and am excited to be back on campus for my next two years at Case! - Caroline Canal ‘17
One more month until First Year move in! Looking forward to hanging out with sisters and meeting new students.
“The Lewis Institute (Delta Gamma's yearly Leadership Conference) was really cool because we had a huge group of women who were completely different yet shared the same exact values and I've really never met any people more welcoming than the people at the Institute. My favorite part about the entire experience was, on the first day, being put into small groups and creating timelines of life events that shaped us. They then asked us all to share with the entire group three events that were vital turning points in our lives. Some women struggled with eating disorders, absent parents, addiction and poverty, and it was just so striking to see that these strong women sitting here before me whom I thought were just typical sorority girls had overcome (and were still overcoming) major happenings in their lives while still helping run successful chapters around the nation. The first day was when our bonds grew stronger and then it only grew from there. Vulnerability is such an important part of leadership and relationships and I feel like that is oft forgotten, so it was wonderful to be reminded of that.” -Maggie Ming ‘17 (Top photo: center)
We actually didn’t go together. When we saw each other we got excited and wanted to chat. It was fun and unexpected--so nice to see a friendly face in a stadium full of so many strangers! --Sammie Jacobs ‘17 (left)
Involvement on campus and supporting other organizations are just a few things that we consider to be important in our chapter. We often have large turn outs for our events and we love to return the favor--especially if it includes gettin’ groovy for 12 hours!
Service for Sight is Delta Gamma’s international philanthropy. So while many chapters have local services at which they dedicate time, we are all still connected through this singular cause!.
