INTRODUCING  A  DESCENDANTS  DASH  EVENT

  —  03:  OLYMPUS TOWN HALL

Time and again people from Auradon and the Isle meet up and no matter what occasion brings them together, there’s one thing that always holds true during the interactions - questioning the rules of Auradon and demanding more rights for those that call the Isle their home.

Anyone that visits the Isle can tell that it’s in need of help, the list of things that need to be done before it would be considered livable by the standards of even the most humble in Auradon something that spans pages, organized nearly in sections and subsections. There’s the need for fresh water, stable housing, warm clothes, fresh food. The basic living necessities have been denied for too long, leaving the Isle to resemble a warzone after a fight for its own survival. 

During one of many debates about the welfare of the Isle and the rules of Auradon, an agreement was reached to seek out the gods of the Greek pantheon for help in reviving the land of the Isle and petition them to make it healthy enough to grow food and help sustain the people living there. As the spring equinox arrives, so does Persephone, and the time is ripe for debate on just how Auradon has treated not only the Isle, but all those it believes to be second class citizens, those known as sidekicks and magic users. 

This isn’t yet another cabinet meeting between old officials from the various kingdoms, but a town hall held in Olympus to give everyone the chance to be heard. Anyone willing to make the trip can give voice to their complaint and the crown of Auradon is expected to hear them out and weigh their words in hopes of making the world a more balanced and fair place. 

While no one can know the stories that will be voiced and the light that will be shed on the reality of the isle, expected topics of debate include the laws against magic, reparations for those on the Isle, the order in which repairs should be undertaken, and how those deemed to be incapable of rehabilitation by both Auradon and the Isle should be dealt with.

The travel and arrangements for the Town Hall can be assumed to be happening from now until the beginning of March 21, midnight GMT, at which point the Town Hall will be considered officially underway. The event will span March 21-28th and will be the focus of the IC group chat in the Descendants discord, but dash threads are encouraged for one on one interactions!

Confusion   taking   over   her   features,   Jane's   mouth   opened   before   closing   soundlessly   as   she   realized   she   didn't   know   how   to   explain   something   that   felt   like   she'd   known   intrinsically   since   birth.   There   were   reasons   why   she   thought   that,   but   even   as   Jane   listed   them   out   in   her   head,   she   could   hear   Harry   refuting   them   just   as   easily   in   a   way   that   didn't   feel   like   empty   reassurances,   but   cold   cut   fact.   Swallowing   back   her   answer,   Jane   leaned   into   Harry's   chest   and   tucked   her   face   into   his   neck   as   she   exhaled,   taking   a   moment   to   steady   herself   as   the   world   reoriented   itself.

The   reason   it   was   Harry   instead   of   anyone   else   was   the   way   he   made   it   feel   safe   to   be   herself,   no   apologies   necessary   for   her   flaws   and   no   emotional   deficit   necessary   to   make   up   for.   The   past   few   days   felt   like   an   ongoing   exercise   by   the   universe   to   break   her   apart   while   Jane   kept   herself   laced   tightly   together,   trying   to   keep   control   with   a   grip   so   tightly   that   it   bruised   and   it   was   only   here,   settled   in   Harry's   lap   with   his   hand   splayed   across   her   back   that   it   felt   safe   to   breathe.   

“Sometimes   I   feel   like   everyone   just   looks   right   past   me…   or   like   what   they   see   isn’t   enough.”   Jane   confessed,   the   issue   just   as   much   to   do   with   how   she’d   grown   up   as   it   did   the   past   week.   Swallowing   against   the   lump   in   her   throat,   Jane’s   fingers   stroked   absently   along   the   curve   of   Harry’s   ribs,   the   touch   as   much   to   ground   herself   as   it   was   to   show   him   affection,   their   proximity   settling   Jane   back   inside   her   own   body.

“I   still   get   amazed   you’d   give   me   a   second   look.”   None   of   that   answered   his   question   of   how   (or   maybe   why)   he   wouldn’t,   but   Jane   doubted   Harry   would   accept   the   reasoning   of   ‘because   no   one   else   does.’   

He   shouldn’t   accept   it,   because   Harry   wasn’t   like   anyone   else,   so   how   could   she   ever   compare   him?

Turning   her   head,   Jane   licked   at   a   drop   of   water   on   his   collarbone   before   kissing   the   same   patch   of   skin,   smiling   as   she   thought   of   the   way   she’d   resigned   herself   to   being   too   low   on   the   totem   pole   for   him   to   think   about   for   a   while,   let   alone   acknowledge,   let   alone   seek   out.

Sliding   her   palm   along   Harry’s   ribcage   to   his   chest   to   cover   the   place   where   his   heart   should   rest,   Jane   shifted   on   his   lap   so   that   she   could   look   at   the   splay   of   her   touch   against   his   body   before   glancing   up   to   find   his   eyes.   “I   don’t   think   I   give   you   enough   credit,”   She   murmured   quietly.   “I   think   you   notice   more   of   me   than   anyone   else   and   it   feels   good   to   be   seen.”

Art was nervous as he looked over the statement that he helped his father and Merlin write. He honestly had alot to say with what was said in it. He could only hope it would be enough for the Isle Residents. Camelot was entirely self sufficient in that all food and such came from within the Kingdom’s borders. They had to feed their own citizens. So they couldn’t exactly give away crops. But he made sure their was a provision for left over food that was made fresh that wasn’t sold in a day would be sent to the Isle. Transporting it there was still an issue because of how far away Camelot was, but he was hoping for a miracle there. He was nervous because he was no only addressing those at the Town Hall, but additionally he was addressing the citizens of Camelot.

He took a breath and looked at the paper before him. With that breath, the nerves seemed to dissipate. Art appeared much more calm, and dare someone say kingly. He looked like his father. “I Prince Arthur Pendragon the Second, knight of the Order of the Round Table, hereby decree on behalf of King Arthur Pendragon that Camelot will aid the Isle residents how it can. These ways include four advisors from Camelot who are experts in farming different crops will be sent to help the Isle Residents learn the best way to use their land and take care of it, and alternate the crops so the land does not get tired out. The Isle Residents may always rely on these three farming advisors, as they will take up residence on the isle for each of the four seasons. One advisor will always been on the Isle in the season they are most experienced with to help. For the first months of this program all four advisors will be on the Isle to help.

“Next, Merlin will be helping Yen Sid with education on the Isle for both those who are magically inclined, as well as those who are not. Merlin has always been an advocate of both magic and mundane learning should be hand in hand.

“And last to help with manual labor around the Isle, and for tilling the land for the farms four Round Table knights, one of whom will be me, and a number of non-Round Table knights who are just as qualified will be sent to the Isle until repairs and restorations are done, or until we are told by Isle Residents, preferably by their Queen Uma, that our help with labor is no longer required. The Four Round Table knights will be there in shifts as will all knights we send so as to not take them from their families for to long.

“We hope this will help rebuild the infrastructure of the Isle, and hope that it helps you see that we in Camelot not only want to help, but we see you as citizens of Auradon, and should any of you ever come to visit Camelot our kingdom is always open to you.”

“It is by these words on the twenty ningth of March in this year that I, on behalf of King Arthur Pendragon, with his Royal Seal decree this as such.” He looked out upon those that had been listening he hoped they had. His gaze was steely and serious no hint of the bumbling boy that many knew. His clothing being the ceremonial garb of Camelot, so very medieval, also aided in the regal look certainly. “A copy of this decree will be in Camelot, and one shall be on the Isle for your reference. Thank you.” He said sitting down, nervously waiting for when he could go, he was very tired of duty and it made him wonder if he was cut out to be king, luckily a sword would decide for him if he was or not.

Art had been tense all day, listening and contemplating how he was going to change things, or tell his father to change things was stressful and that was only minor compared to what issues were being brought up. The end of the day came and he needed to unwind. He joined the knights that had come along with security, he was eating with them when one of them called him your highness. “No no,” he said. “I’m one of you all right now. I’m a knight at the table just like you. No your highness here,” he stated firmly wanting it clear that they were equal.

A clap of the hands after Carlos took his stuff from him since he finished talking, he didn’t watch Carlos leave. “So, while I wont be taking too many questions about Cruella, we can start there. Or you can save all the awkwardness not talk about, and ask me about the real reason Carlos spoke which are his safe houses. Any questions?”
