Fuck, FUCK, FUCK.” He held the failed test in his hand as he sunk to the floor of the hallway. This was the 3rd test he’d failed this semester, if he wanted even a chance at passing the class he had to get at least a 90% on the next test and not miss a single assignment. If he failed a class Bruce would pull him off patrol, probably for the rest of the school year.

so maybe she'd done some snooping in his files. it was her job. but the day's here and she's pretends that there's some urgent lead, sending a text telling the other to meet her at their usual rendezvous. instead of greeting him with a dossier, it's a box of four different flavored cupcakes shoved in his direction. "just in case no one baked you a cake today..." and maybe they weren't friends but des, better than anyone, knew that lonely, cakeless birthdays sucked.

     des appeared seemingly out of nowhere ( she was sneaky like that ) with a box of something that she promptly shoved into kit’s hands. there wasn’t even so much as a hello before he was staring down at the box she had handed to him. ❛ – what’s this ?? ❜ he asked, ignoring the look she gave him to just ‘ open it ’. of course, kit himself knew what day it was, but this ( whatever des had handed to him ) had to be coincidental – that or it was just another box of stacked files for him to look through -- fun. because no one else, aside from a select few individuals that he wasn’t in contact with, knew the significance of this day. she gave him another look, and finally he relented, lifting the lid to reveal the contents. 

     even if had tried to hide it, the look that crossed his face was unmistakable – surprise mixed with pure delight. furrowed brows soon softened as a smile appeared in its place. he looked up at her then, after he’d taken a long look at the multicoloured cupcakes. ❛ well come on, help me eat these ?? ❜
