“ o w e n —- ” his name had been swept along by a soft gasp as she caught his final four words. the last thing she wanted was for the situation to spiral out of control , and if this guy that owen had just told to ‘ back the fuck up ’ had any connection to RUSSIA , he could be putting himself in some very real danger. UNKNOWINGLY, for her. she took hold of owen’s arm with a feather - light grip, hoping that if nothing else it would stop him from throwing a punch, and quickly surveyed the stranger —— definitely a stranger. there was not even the slightest spark of recognition between them, which, though inconclusive evidence, did give some peace of mind.
“ owen, please? let’s go. ” she gave his arm a gentle tug and reassigned her focus entirely to him: large, blue eyes pleading her case.
He flinched when he felt her tug on his arm, it was a gentle reminder that he was going to have to explain this super irrational behavior. He looked back at her, and she didn’t look mad, concerned perhaps but not mad. Maybe that was a good sign, maybe it was just a sign that they were in a public place and she didn’t want to make more of a scene than he already had, either way there wasn’t much other choice than to follow her out.
He cast his eyes downward as they walked towards the door, following closely behind her. The moment they got out the door he began to apologize. “I’m sorry about that, I just-” He paused, trying to come up with something that wouldn’t out his cover, or make him look like a dick, not much was coming to mind though, “I thought he was someone I knew.”
RUSSIAN BORN though she may be, she had consumed enough american media ( in preparation for posing as a u.s. citizen and even prior to that, though it had been kept secret from her papa, because she enjoyed it ) to know what ‘ wanna get out of here? ’ usually meant. she was a rabbit caught in the headlights , trapped between this potential threat and the confusion bred from his comment, until ice - cream elevated some of the pressure. at least for now. “ ah, SURE! ice - cream would be great. ” a glance in the direction of the unidentified male told her there he was still headed their way and she pulls the strap of her bag onto her shoulder —— a duo of worry lines appearing at the bridge of her nose. “ let’s go. ”
Owen pushed through a separate route to the door, and tried to keep Alex in front of him at all times. He could see the man change directions to follow him, something he had really hoped had just been a coincidence was starting to look like a credible threat. “Goddammit.” He murmered under his breath, trying to think of a plan that would keep her safe without blowing his cover. Turning around suddenly, he faced the possible assailant with about 3 inches between them in that crowded room. “Hey buddy, we gotta problem here or are you gonna back the fuck up.” He tried for a jealous boyfriend vibe, while simultaneously flashing the gun in his waistband as subtly as possible.
The guys eyes got wide at the sudden confrontation, and even more so (if it were even possible) when he spotted the gun. “Woah, I-I don’t want any trouble, just looking for my friends.” Either he was a really good liar, or Owen had made a mistake.
so i just reached a milestone i honestly never thought i’d get to with alex. not because i didn’t think that her character was engaging enough ( i did !! ) or because i worried that i wouldn’t have enough muse to continuously write for her ( i do !! ) but because i knew the nikita community was so tiny that there was no guarantee anyone would want to interact with her. i was almost certain that there be a place for her here. BOY , WAS I WRONG. literally HUNDREDS OF YOU have embraced her and i am so thankful for that. so, without further ado, here’s just a little something to call out just a few of you personally —— to tell you that alex and i appreciate you so so much ! !

lips that had been wrapped around the black straw poking it’s head out of her drink had now formed a small ‘ o ’ as she followed owen’s line of sight. even having consumed more alcohol than she was used to, she could never forget WHO SHE WAS ——– or how much danger she could suddenly find herself in. she spots the man in question, easily distinguished by the beeline he was making in their direction. “ i don’t —- think so? ”
Owen tensed, “Huh, he seems real interested in something over here.” He couldn’t help but notice that the guy didn’t look like someone that would be found in a college bar, he looked just slightly too old for it, not to mention he looked just a little too inhibited for it, the good news was if he was actually here for Alex he had to be an amateur, he wasn’t even trying to blend in. “Wanna get out of here?” He tried to sound casual, but he doubted that’s how it came out. “I’m craving some ice cream.” He added, slightly more convincingly. They’d still have to get by the potential threat, but he’d have a better advantage standing in the crowd than sitting in a cramped booth.
