Desert Dark: Sonja Stone
Spy school is undoubtedly thrilling in Sonja Stone’s Desert Dark. After Nadia Riley leaves behind the start of a horrible junior year for a government-funded boarding school, she is not sure what to expect. It definitely wasn’t a CIA Black-ops training school for the hyper-intelligent. She soon meets her team within the school. An obsessive southern bell, a stoic genius, an intuitive womanizer, and their fearless gorgeous leader. Nadia is not too bad herself, with her ability to decrypt almost anything and a combination of determination and work ethic that allows her to catch up in a school with an impossible workload. Oh, and did I mention she got in after the murder of another student due to a double-crossing agent. She has to learn how to shape up, fit in, and prove her innocence before the semester is up without dying in the process. The heart-wrenching adventure that follows is full of personal drama, international espionage, and trust. I could not put the novel down and honestly, could not predict who did it even with perspectives from every suspect. I will follow this book and the characters who attempt to navigate their complicated relationships and future in the CIA.

But Desert Mountain Academy turns out to be more…
