WAKE UPP, RANGO OC JUST DROPPED!
Rango has been one of my biggest hyperfixations for years, the overall story, setting, character designs, emotion capture and the SCOREE OUUGHHHH! This is Felis the desert tarantula, a funky outlaw turned bounty hunter, stationed in the town of dirt!
California desert tarantula aka new friend
@cuyahogafalls-ohio submitted: I saw a tarantula finally after living in the desert for almost a whole year!!!! It would be kinda cool to get an ID, we're southern/inland California (Anza borrego desert area) but mostly I'm just showing off the cool dude I saw :)
A man!!! I love him. Although I am terrible at IDing tarantulas, he looks to me like a desert tarantula, Aphonopelma iodius. Anyone who’s better at IDing them feel free to correct me!
A few years back, I was hiking with my mom on a trail in Zion National Park, and saw something Too Small To Be A Chipmunk, but Too Large to Be a Bug crossing the path.
Who was it? It was....
Him!!!! A whole wild tarantula, CAREFULLY walking along his way! (so careful! look at the tap tap of him legs!)
And I do think it was a male, because when I asked a ranger about it I was told that it was most likely a dude in search of a Lady to mate with

Wow! What a spectacular find. A great big leggy friend. Probably a desert tarantula although I don’t know that we could determine sex accurately with just this video. But a man out looking for a date sounds logical. I love him and hope he found the right lady. Thanks for sharing!

Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (Part One) The Loveland Living Planet Aquarium is a favorite haunt of mine and a great place-- more than just fish, they also have birds and otters and clouded leopards and all sorts of fascinating animals. But relevant to this tumblr is a section dedicated to the local Utah wildlife. During my last visit I took a few rubbish photos of some of the desert animals and the faux red rock display.
