November 2025: Gardening & Fishing
We're trying to overwinter pepper plants... again:
Basil after two days of frost:
Cilantro after two days of frost. I've said it before but it bears repeating, cilantro is cold hardy. I think there is an assumption especially among gringo Americans that because cilantro is associated with cuisine from warmer climates in Central & South America as well as South & Southeast Asia that it is a warm season crop. As a gardener in the Southern United States, I can assure you that cilantro will bolt quicker than lettuce in the Spring which is great if you are wanting to collect seeds for planting or to use as coriander but it sucks if you want cilantro leaves for that citrusy brightness it can add to a dish:
